Getting in to the market of pike / ski fishing….Dont like the feel of the round baitcasters…Calcuttas & ambassadors, what are some good options to look at for a pike / ski size low profile baitcaster reel….Thanks

The Revo Toro has been great for me. I have both the 50 and 60 size reels.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either a Abu Revo Toro or a Curado 300E

What kind of baits are you planning on throwing? I stick to Shimano and the Curado 300E and 300EG are great reels for the money (230-260) but do not like throwing anything big on them. Tranx is your other option for anything but runs in the 500 range.

The Tranx is only “low profile” if you’re Andre the Giant and have catchers mitts for hands. Sure, they bill it as a low profile reel, but that’s only because it’s not a traditional round reel.

I’d go with a Curado over a Revo Toro any day. Too many problems with Abus over the years.

And if you are just getting into musky fishing and go with the Toro which is an amazing reel; steer clear of the toro winch it is for slow rolling baits and will only frustrate you if you try to burn baits or jerk baits. But like I said the Toro is an amzing reel and worth every penny.

If you’re going to be throwing smaller muskie baits
I really like the Toro HS. Its super fast which makes it easy to burn bucktails and pick up slack line on jerk baits

Do you think the 50 or 60 seriers would be better for this application?
