Someone I know saw a guy in a canoe on Tonka setting up some sort of floating tipups on the lake the other day. He was using sucker minnows. Has anyone ever heard of this? He setup more than one too. So he definately was not fishing legally. Another thing to think about, can the
DNR ticket you if you deny them as being yours?

Nope. The person who saw it was using a spotting scope to make sure he wasnt seeing things. The guy was using Sucker minnows!

I don’t think so. Here it is as it appears in the fishing regulation book:

“Angling with an unattended line, a setline, or a trotline is unlawful.”

Not only was he fishing with more lines than is legal, it’s a stupid way to fish. There’s nothign to stop the fish from dragging the tip up all around the lake.

Now if a guy was to cut a hole in the floor of his pontoon and put a tip up through there and troll the weed lines. . .

    Must be from Iowa….

Doubtful. There are hundreds of prime bullhead fisheries way closer to Iowa than Minnetonka.
