I fish alone a lot of the time because a large portion of my trips are spur of the moment – with no notice to line up a partner.

Also – with the hectic pace of life in general – fishing alone is a big wind-down time for me……a good time to recharge the mental battery.

My “mental battery” is having a hard time taking a charge. Can anyone suggest a good replacement brand/model?

See what happens when you “hang” with Bret Clark for one day.

One of the many good things about IDO is the availability of fisherman. Sounds obvious, but as some have said before, it is a real hassle finding fishing partners and making schedules match.
On IDO, you can post an open seat and fill it quick, or you can just decide to go it alone.

I like the open seat idea and have used it many times, but you do feel pressure to catch fish, and for me that’s not always a given!!

My dog won’t chase a ball and she won’t chase a frisbee, but make one cast and she’s out of the boat chasing the lure like it’s made of bacon.

Just a heads up Jon….keep the dog away from Brian. This is a secret I am having a hard time keeping
I now know why Brian calls his dog Woody

If I am working on trying to learn new techniques and plan to be doing weird stuff all day, I fish alone. I don’t think it is fair to bring someone out with me and jump from thing to thing working at a certain technique.

If I plan to do something that I think a friend would like to do and I feel I can get them on fish, I will take them. Now my new schedule is a little weird, so getting schedules to work is often harder to do.

As Jon said, the mutt is always ready to go

That is another reason for me. I will readily admit that my skills are not up to par, so I don’t want to drag people down with me!

I have the opposite problem most people here have. I too usually end up being spur of the moment. Believe it or not, I have had some people here offer open seats or want to fish with me. The problem is that I can’t really plan a week out, much less a day.

Yep. Then you crush them with refusal.

I don’t like to refuse, but it is not easy. My nephew usually gets priority, although I have almost broken my neck ATV riding with him and almost drown fishing with him. That might change.

One day when I finally get a boat, it will be easier just to put out the word I have an open seat. Then again, there might not be many openings because Michelle will fill many of them.

Why I fish alone – to get away from work phones, work emails, meetings, honey-do-list and about 1,000 other reasons. Most of them have already been mentioned….

Oh and then there’s the joy of that tap, tap, tap…

    Top 10 Reasons
    10. Can fish the way I want.
    9. Only have to chase down my own snags.
    8. Can stay out as late as I want.
    7. Do not feel pressure to provide fish.
    6. My boat runs better/faster with only 1 occupant.
    5. Do not have to give up secret spots.
    4. Do not have to answer to anyone else.
    3. If I mess up landing a fish, it is my own fault.
    2. Just plain catch more fish.
    1. I am a corn-hole.

Oh, it would not be directed at you. It would be directed at the subject of your post and maybe her husband. I think everyone can use their own imagination.

Not even if was naked. When I see her face I always think of Wayne Brady. I am sure she is hot compared to Martha Washington, but being 1st lady does not give any woman bonus points in my book.

    Now stop baiting me.
