thats kind of a loaded question…
budget?
distance willing to travel?
color?
any specific lines?
hunting dog/trial dog/lapdog which one?
size preferred?
what is important to you and your family in the potential dog you will be buying?first off, i would start here, just to get a general idea of what you will be working with, and then go from there.

June 10, 2012 at 12:51 am #1075012I was a little vague I suppose. Ideally we are looking for a black female with some hunting lines, but more importantly a great family dog. We are open to travel for the right dog/price.

puppies vary greatly in price, and in genetics, which conjures up a lot of different opinions from different people.
one thing everyone agrees on though, is do NOT buy a pup from a breeder unless you get a full health guarantee, sire and dam have been cleared with OFA, Cerf, CNM, and EIC.
Any “breeder” that is unwilling to do those things, i would simply walk away from.
You should be able to find a fine dog in what you are looking for, in that $400-$1000 range.
Good Luck!
also, one nice thing about the puppy classifieds on RTF (link i posted) is they require health clearances to post on their site.
June 10, 2012 at 12:01 pm #1075031I have to dig out the info, there is a guy in Farmington area where we got Molly, she is sweetheart great family dog, stays in the house. Very calm but when it comes to hunting she is a machine, very smart, she picks up on stuff naturally. We accidentally met her littermate, a person down the street had a male lab abou the same age, when we walked by the yard they acted like they new each other, we got to talking to the owner and found out that they came from the same guy and they where from the same litter. He had the same trates as Molly, great hunter, mellow around the house.
I will dig out the info and send you a pm.
