So….for those who thought that only deer ticks can carry Lyme’s disease, time to re-think.

I found an attached wood tick on Weds evening and removed it. It maybe had been there a day. This morning I had the infamous bullseye so went to the ER. The doc said all of the early indications are there so now I get to pop the ugly pills for two weeks.

There are no know confirmed cases of American Dog ticks spreading Lyme disease. That said, take the drugs! You may have cellulitus (tissue infection) from other bacteria at the bite site, that is not good either but the antibiotics should knock it down quick. If not looking better in a day or two, go back in!

Tom, there is also a couple other bacteria type infections that come from regular ticks that not everyone in the medical field is aware of.
Mayo Clinic Eau Claire might have some info on this.

I pretty much listen to what the doc says when a diagnosis is made. They’ve done me good in dealing with the heart and the lungs and this won’t be any different.

I just wanted to let people know that things like this can happen. An old freind got Lyme’s without knowing it and what he went thru isn’t on my list for me.
