First post so I thought I would introduce myself –

My name is Scott and I own an Alumacraft Navigator 165 Sport (full windshield) powered by a Yamaha 75hp 4-stroke. It’s not a fast boat but I sure do like the wide beam. I fish mostly Wright county lakes (Buffalo, Pulaski, Maple Lake, Clearwater, Cedar most every weekend. Sometimes I’ll venture up to Mille Lacs if it’s not too windy and I fish Lake of the Woods near Kenora and Vermilion at least once a year too. I really enjoy dragging leaches around on my own tied lindy rigs and walleyes are my main target however if the Crappies are biting I’ll switch gear and try for them. I will keep a couple of fish to eat but mostly let everything else go. I think I’m going to try lead-lining this summer so will most likely have a bunch of questions.

Anyway, I’ve been a lurker on this site (and have gathered quite a bit of information) for long enough and thought it was time to join the conversation!

Thanks and have a great day.

Welcome aboard, Scott! My cousin, Mary & Arlan Wille, live on the SW side of Pulaski. Craig & Maggie Lilja, former teacher in Goodhue, moved to Buffalo & raised his family there. Buffalo seems like a great city. I am glad to see there are fishermen living there, too! We fish on Lake Francis & frequent Lantto’s when we can. Maybe see you on the water. Enjoy life as you fish.

Welcome. I did the same ‘lurking’ for years. Back when it was ‘fish the river.com’ …..amazing what a few years can do…

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.

A quick story some may relate to –

Sometimes I just sit and tinker with things in the boat while it’s parked in the garage – that Lowrance manual should really be read and where better than in the boat? Look at those water spots – time to break out the Windex and clean the HDS screen (while sitting in the boat in the garage). There’s probably a screw that has loosened up on something from last weekend’s outing (it was fairly rough) and the garage is where the tools are. That rod holder isn’t quite in the right place and where better to figure out where to move it than while sitting in the boat with a rod in the holder? Maybe that anchor should be moved to one of the front storage areas to help balance out the boat. It’s easier to move that heavy anchor if the boat is sitting still in the garage. The list goes on and on with stuff I can do while ‘working’ on the boat in the garage (plus the fridge is near in case I’m in need of a refreshment from all the work I do on the boat).

Sometimes my wife will come out and ask what I am doing. ‘Working on boat rigging’ I’ll say. As she leaves I’m pretty sure I hear her mumble something like ‘dork’ or ‘geek’ or some such thing. She just doesn’t get it but at least I’m happy while working on the boat in the garage.

    Good luck fishing to all!

    Welcome to Ido Yamagator!

You need to take up catfishing. Tighten screws, go through the sonar/gps instructions, learn where the stars/constellations are and their names…thing of ways to super glue a hook to your nose so it looks like it’s impaled…

    You’ll fit right in!
