north or course setting on locator

Do you set your locator to be course up or north up? I always leave mine on course up, because I have a very hard time keeping track of where north is.

I was just wondering if anyone else has that problem. Is there an advantage to one over the other?

the newest version of Humminbird’s software includes a north-facing arrow when you’re in course up mode. best of both worlds.
i believe Lowrance does the same?

North up when fishing, course up when running.

Track/course up when running and fishing, the HDS Gen 2 units have the arrow showing north while in course up.

I usually operate in this mode all the time. Guess I always felt comfy understanding where I was at in relation to the locator vs. true north.

Well, I am glad to see there are others that get confused by north up, I thought I was the only one.

I actually posted this on a couple of boards and for the most part it is pretty well split. I will say that it seems the better sticks like the north up option rather than the course up option.

I am always game to re-try things so I will give the north up another go. Maybe an epiphany will take place.

As always, Thanks for all the replies and comments!
