Have been in Israel for work for the last week plus. I’m sitting in my hotel bored so thought I would share some of what I’ve done. Had three days over the weekend to do some bumming around. Went to Jerusalem last weekend, and then this weekend hit the dead sea, the Masada (which is on the southern end of the dead sea), the Judean dessert, Galilee, Rosh Hanikra (northern most city along the med) mainly to go to the border crossing into Lebanon to see if I could get in, Haifa, Ceaserea (old city on the cost built by Herod in 74 B.C), and probably something else I’m forgetting. Has been an interesting few days. Contrary to popular belief, Israel is a pretty beautiful country. The northern part of the country is mountains and forest. From one point between Galilee and Rosh Hanikra while crossing the mountains, I could see the Med, Sea of Galilee, Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
What I learned about Lebanon is, you can’t get there from here. The dude at the gate was not friendly. I did manage to take a picture of the gate and the sign on the gate that said Photography Prohibited before they yelled at me in Lebanese, or at least that’s what I figure it was. I was surprised there were no U.N. troops there as I thought they held the border. Anyway, at least I can say I got to the border.
The pictures are of The Dead Sea from on top of the Masada, The Sea of Galilee from the church of the Beatitudes, the gate going into Lebanon, and the view of the Baha’i gardens in Haifa from on top of the Carmel range.
One more week of work and then I get to come home. Weather here this time of year is mid 80s and sunny every day. Makes it tough to go into an office for 10 hours.
