I dont think so. The Upper Midwest Bass Challenge Series starts tomorrow, but will be launching out of Alma. Hope the weather holds out. Any other IDO’ers fishing it? I will be in the 884 Nitro.

I fished there today don’t know what you mean by boat every 10 feet. Saw very few boats all day. I would be surprised if that tournament had more than 25 boats entered.

ya i hear ya! Im all for fishing tourneys but they should not be allowed to use public landings! If they do they should pay way more than they do for the permits

Its an outrage that they can take up all the space so they can try and make money.
    Its crap!

ya ya Im sure the fisherman in the tournys are all about raising money for some charity
    My

Some write all there expenses off on there taxes, and get to do all of this on our dime and use up our landings just dont seem right!

this is another reason the late inland bass opener is such a good thing! keeps some our landings clear for a little while anyway!

we should probably close walleye season on pool 4 in March and April too since all those landings get pretty congested from all the perch jerkers.

I’ve yet to see a fishing website you will get much sympathy from concerning that topic.

I forgot how these guys do not buy licenses and do not have the right to use YOUR landings. Get over yourself would ya.

Oh and im sure the local businesses hate this too. Why would they want people coming every weekend spending money on food and gas? must be rough.

Bass fisherman do not get to write any expenses off on their taxes. Professional bass fishing is not recognized as a business by the IRS. They just have to claim the money they win as income, then the money they get from sponsors and speaking events as income.

Oh and by the way, the tournament director has to pay the DNR to host those tournaments. So when they get a “free break” from paying ramp fees vs what you do, they already payed in advance. It is built in to the price of admission.

How about all you citidiots that come down with your cruisers and clog up the ramp because they dont know how to launch then take up two places because they dont know how to park? Or how about all the guys who get plastered and drive like idiots up n down the channel. There ok?. No. Instead pick on the locals who want to have a little derby. As far as i know, that sticker on the side of my boat… is the same as yours

Your way outta bouncce with your statement, hope your ready to take the crap your gonna get, just because the rigs maybe larger doesn’t mean they are takin up all of the parking, if you ever fished a bass tourney then you are narrow minded, 10 feet ? come on, its not bumper boats like the spring run or ice fishing, lived on the river my whole life and always fished the pool-pools i wanted

WOW, pretty strong words saying these folks are not entitled to use public landings, even though they pay taxes, thats a bunch of BS, maybe you and everyone else, me included should put in for a permit just to fish, and ask what public landing i-we can use, oh wait i’m not entitled to use public facilites ie restrooms, hunting grounds etc cause someone who is a member of the public is using it and since i am not part of the general public i’ll p my pants and run home and cry to mommy

A little bit bitter? I’d imagine you’ve had a run in with a few jerk guys in bass boats. I saw one today associated with the event I was fishing- He weaved in and out of recreational anglers like yourself just to get another 50 yards or so before shutting down. Totally something that I thought was BS! Its guys like this that make me mad because they make guys like YOU think that we are all out here to rape the water and don’t care about anything but ourselves. I care very much for the river and the environment in general, and want to see nothing but improvement with respect to water quality, fish populations, and quality of all species. Unfortunately- and here I go generalizing too- I feel it is the weekend warrior recreational anglers who are the ones that are more likely to be over harvesting certain fish, congesting the boat ramps with inexperienced boaters, and otherwise just out there being unethical and not using common sense. For instance today I was loading my boat at a boat ramp just after our tournament. in a 4 lane boat ramp that had multiple boats waiting to come in, a man in a flatbottom with his kid and another guy backed down the ramp crooked and took up almost the entire 2 lanes of that side of the dock. When this happens I always attempt to squeeze my trailer in just to prove a point to them. I squeezed in flawlessly, but then the man dropped the F-bomb on me multiple times about coming into town and “F-ING up our ramps” right in front of his kid. I told him that at least I know how to back a trailer down the ramp, and that I was in fact right from town. He had nothing but a grunt after that, and despite him being there 5 minutes before us, he was also there dealing with his boat 5 minutes after us. You can make a case that bass tournaments take up space at the ramps, but as pointed out by others, they also are a huge part of the economy. We have to pay launch fees just like everyone else. Can you imagine what the city of La Crosse this year will make in launch fees on tournaments and tournament practicing alone?! I don’t want to know. I just hope they use it for the boat landings and research involving the fishery. Maybe put it in the asian carp fund too. WIth the Bassmaster Elite series coming to town, there will be hundreds of people from all over the midwest coming to spend their dollars right in the Upper Mississippi Valley. Anybody who doesn’t recognize this year as a huge opportunity for the area is a fool. It has been a dream of mine to meet all of these pros, and this is a 1 year trial for La Crosse. If they like it here they might come back. But if y’all are gonna be pricks about it than you can kiss them goodbye! So I say bite your lip. We all have to deal with your bad boat driving and trailering skills along with my all time favorite: anchoring in the middle of high traffic channels!

The St Jude Tournament does not use the parking lot for their boat trailers, we park in the old Fair grounds lot.

And if you really had tournament boats around you that close maybe you shouldn’t fish community stuff. And then you could maybe change your name from baseless.
