Any guys grow heirloom tomatoes in their gardens? I like to eat them – but don’t have a clue as to their names, which ones are good producers, etc.

Already doing the Beefsteak, Big Boy, Cherry, etc.

    Input appreciated.

I prefer Jetstars for just slicing and eating. As for heirlooms you might want to try Brandywines. They are not pretty but they are good.

Mortgage lifters are my favorite for the big variety. As for paste tomatoes(roma type) Polish linguisa are awesome.

Though, last year I planted a Virginia Sweet, a yellow red stiped Tomato, that tasted mighty fine.

for heirlooms, it’s hard to beat brandywines. they are a late yield and usually arent ripe until most of the other varieties are almost done.
Mr. Stripey is another xcellent heirloom similar to brandywines. planted them for a few years but couldnt find plants this year.
i have heard black krims and camp joys are awesome heirlooms but havent been able to find the plants, just seeds.

Rutgers is an old tomato variety. Great tomatoes for any use.

just got back from pickin up a few plants to fill in the empty spaces in the garden and got a 3-pack of heirloom “pineapple beefsteak.”
sounds similar – if not the same with a different name – as mr. stripey. described as a “large, sweet, excellent slicer” tomato.
so … about 8 to 10 weeks before a veni burger on the grill with melted baby swiss and a thick slice of tomater (droolin smiley)
