I managed to lose my Natives over the weekend. who has a good polarized glasses suggestion for fishing? I’m looking for wrap arounds with a blueish lens. Thanks for your input. I’d rather spend under a hundred bones. Costa’s don’t fit me or my budget.

You can get Costas on e-bay for not much over $100. I got my last pair of fathoms with blue 580 glass lenses for $135. Far less than the $240 retail I paid for my first pair.

Solar Bat is one of my personal sponsors and they provide great products with great prices! I recommend them to anyone looking for great sunglasses.

I would go with costs or wileXs. Both are very comfortable and light.

Had a couple pairs of Solar Bats and couldn’t keep the lenses in them. We were out fishing one day and after a while, my cousin says to me, “hey, you are missing a lense”. I had no idea how long it had been out. No alcohol involved either. Anyway, bought some WileyX’s 2 years ago and have been very happy with them.

Worth every penny at either price. Love mine.

My eyes are light sensitive and I’m on my fourth pair of Costa Del Mars and wear them 365 days a year. I might occasionally forget my wallet or phone when leaving the house but never my Costa Del Mars. Even wearing them every day I still get at least 2 years out of them. There are many quality brands but the fact Costa Del Mar has different size frames to fit anyone is a big plus.

    Hey Gsanders —

I’m in the market to buy some new glasses as well. Where do you go to get these fitted? I’d be willing to spend the money if I can find a pair that fits my melon.

    Thanks —

They have six different frame sizes but not all styles are available in all sizes. If you go to the web site there is a store locator in the upper right corner. Type in your zip code and it will provide retailers in your area where you can go try them on. You can customize different frames, colors and lenses to get what you want if you order them. Fisch, Wave Killer, Man-O-War, Hammerhead and Permit styles all come in X-Large so if you need them wider than normal those are styles you can choose from. You can also use the “compare” feature on the site which will display the lens widths.

Gotta at least mention Smith. They make outstanding lenses. My current favorite pair that I wear every day have lasted several years. I am going to try Costas very soon but Smith has already proven themselves to me for at least 10 years.

Seems like expensive sunglasses always manage to get lost broke or stolen a week after you buy them.

That’s why I always buy the cheapest ones I can find. You can’t get rid of the damn things even if you try.

I tried on a bunch and went back to Natives. the last pair was going strong on year 7. I did the same thing Jake Walmart was my rule. I would get headaches and the glasses would get scratched in short order. A decent pair of glasses will improve your fishing experience. Thanks for everyone’s input.

That is not my experience. I find that when I pay a decent sum for a pair of shades, I take care of them. I always know where they are and put them in the case when not in use.

I’ve had some CDMs with 400 glass lenses for 5+ years that are good as new, some Smiths for 3+ years that are in great shape, and just got some new CDMs with 580 glass lenses this year. They’re great.

I have a pair of Fathom 580 Costa’s out for repair right now…checking out their lifetime warranty. These glasses are about 10 years old. I have a pair of 480 Fathoms with the cheaters in them. Love them both!
