I am looking for your opinions on fall pike fishing. We normally go to northern Manitoba in the spring. We love to cast spoons to fish in water from 1 to 6 feet deep. How and where do you normally find the pike in the fall? We have fished this way for about 20 years, and wondered how well it would work in the fall. Thanks for your advice.

I suppose the answer is “it depends”. Sometimes on the day or the year as to what the pattern seems to be.

We’re usually closer to the american border in Ontario. The difference between early season and fall may not be too far apart. Rather than the spawning bays from 1-5fow, try the deeper weeds adjacent to that or weeds with deep water access.

Don’t be afraid to try the same techniques in the fall but just a little deeper. Of course that could all be dead wrong for the trip and experimentation will be the key.
