Need to put a price on a couple of used pontoon boats & motors. What is the best resource to use?

    Thanks

2X Craigslist…. That should give you an idea of what people are paying for similiar equipment

Craigslist will give you a good idea of what sellers are HOPING to get. Not what people are acutually paying.

Most Craigslist boat sellers are wildly optimistic when pricing and end up taking much less to actually move the boat. I’ve never paid full price for any boat from CL. It’s just a waiting game until the seller finally comes to his senses.

Use CL as a rough guide, but factor in that most are overpriced, so what you’re looking at is “sticker price” and actual sale price will almost always be less.

Be honest with yourself about condition as well. Rotten floors and carpet are NOT “minor cosmetic issues”. Most sellers tend to overestimate the condition because condition is comparative. To know rate the condition accurately you have to have seen many of the same/similar boats to know where yours stacks up. Very few sellers can do this accurately.

NADA is completely useless because there are too many regional variations in boat pricing.
