Picked up a Humminbird 898c si last week and after some thought was wondering if anyone has had any issues using one on a jet outboard. Also how necessary is it to have the second transducer? With that size investment I want to make sure that I am set up correctly but don’t want to drop extra money if it really isn’t necessary. The parts guy at the local boat dealership said that after 7mp it won’t read depth correctly without it (it will be guessing is what he said). Any help would be appreciated.

I would belive that the second transducer is very important, otherwise why would it be included?I have seen accurate depths at over 7mph.You need to adjust your settings. Can’t comment on jet boats.

That is where I am confused, the unit only comes with one transducer and it is 150.00 for the y cable and the second tansducer. Wondering if anyone is running these with just one transducer.

I run mine with just the larger SI ducer that came with it and it works great at high speeds. If you get it set right you should be fine.

Craigrbox if you run your jet anything like we do. I would run a second ducer and keep you si ducer mounted higher and out of harms way.
