I took my 9 year old grandson walleye fishing on the Croix yesterday fishing was a little slow. We were catching small 13-14″ walleyes. I handed him the rod to reel in another fish when he yelled Grandapa I need help. I looked and the rod was really bent. He gave me the rod and I thought that it was snagged when I felt a tug on the line. What happened was a Muskie grabbed the wallye when he was bringing it in. I got the walleye away from the muskie several times and it followed the walleye all the way to the boat. My grandson yelled look at that fish, it was 50″ plus muskie. We keep teasing it by putting the walleye in front of it and then pulling it away. I think that will be a memory that he will always have. The walleye was pretty chewed up and was 14-1/2″ long.
