Spielmans first draft as the Vikings GM. We can only hope he doesn’t do as bad here as he did in Miami when he was there.

So, who do you want at #3?

    Wide receiver
    Left tackle
    Cornerback / safety

WR but doesn’t look like that’s the way he’s headed!

They take Blackman they might just as well slit their throats right there on stage. IF we stay at the 3rd pick they already plan on taking the tackle from USC. Word is the phones are lighting up though with offers for the 3rd pick. It sure as hell better be a good offer to take a trade.

They should pick every position and them make them sign a nonbuck neked booty cruise disclosure statement before a contract is offered.

Vikes need to take the Left Tackle, end of story.

Although a corner is needed, a stud left tackle would allow us to move our current LT to guard thus improving two positions at once. It would also give Ponder more time to throw the ball and stay upright. Giving our RB’s more running room should help as well.

If we can entice Tampa or St. Louis to trade up with us we can move a few spots back and still get Kalil, I would be all for that. Whatever route they go, I sure hope they take the LT and solidify that position for years to come.

Nothing against the tackle but Blackmon is going to be a game changer along the lines of Calvin Johnson. Tackle is the safer of the two positions but WR is more exciting.

I 100% agree Blackman is a BEAST and if we had a half [censored] at best line I would be screaming you have to take him. The situation we currently have at line gives us no other choice. Blackman will be the NFL rookie of the year no matter where he goes.

Blackmon is a beast but you can get receivers anywhere. Ponder in my mind has not shown he will be a top notch quarterback. To find out if he will be we need to keep him upright. Charlie Johnson isn’t the answer at left tackle.

Give me the left tackle and go from there. In todays game you are absolutly dead without your quarterback having time to throw.

Besides………..a USC kid would be a hero in L.A. if it comes to that.

They really should trade down to the 10-15 range pick up a couple more picks in the process and then select LT Riley Rieff from Iowa. You get a starter along the offensive line for the next 10-14 years and you get to solidify other positions with the extra picks.

Yes, trade down as many times as you can and accumulate as many picks as you can.

DON’T TRADE UP!! We have done that a few times in the past and it hasn’t panned out—TJOKE and Tyrell Johnson come to mind.

An interesting stat in ESPN the Mag this last issue-
Within 5 years of being drafted in the 1st round more players had went at least one full season without a start as made the Pro Bowl.

The NFL draft is a complete crapshoot. Accumulate the most picks possible to give yourself a chance of somone panning out.

If they stay at 3- I do believe they take Kalil. Although, rumor has it they haven’t talked to him in over 2 weeks after talking to him all the time. It either means they are trying to not let other people know they want him OR they don’t want him and are not wasting time with him.

The one thing I know though- don’t believe ANYTHING the coaches, GM’s or owners say between now and the draft. It is all a possible smokescreen!

It seems like the Vikes are in a position to grab any of 3 prime prospects.

Which automatically makes me suspicious that they will find some way to eff it up.

They will probably concoct some bizarre and very complicated 16 player trade involving 5 teams and that moves them down in the draft. Then, after 3 seasons that produce a sum of 7 wins, they will finally have to admit that the most successful part of the trade was that they ended up with a really outstanding water boy and the third best masseuse in the league.

    Go Vikes!

If I am Spielman I take Clairborne. The Viking’s biggest area of need is the secondary. They have not had a stud corner forever, and with Clairborne you are getting a man to man shut down guy. They had a guy with 22 sacks last year but could not stop the pass. They play against Rogers, Stafford, and Cutler 6 games a year and they need to be able to defend the pass to have a chance. Chances are you are not going to get a franchise left tackle very often, but you don’t get a franchise corner very often either. Draft for their biggest need, corner, and get a tackle with their 2nd or 3rd round pick. I think a guy named Rogers from Green Bay does pretty well without a franchise left tackle defending his blind side. Go Vikes!

Clairborne scored a 4 on the Wonderlic, correct? Yes, he would fit in perfect with the Queens.

Don’t you get like 2 or 3 points for putting your own freaking name on that test?

After reading and listening the “NFL Draft Experts” for what seems like an eternity.
I believe the Vikings should look at dropping down a couple of spots, get an additional pick somewhere in this draft
(for example move from #3 overall to #5 overall) and pick the the Left Tackle Kalil.
Blackmon was a man among boys in college but as pro will be closer to Anquan Boldin than Calvin Johnson in the NFL. He will be very good but not great.
They can get a very good cornerback in the 2nd round.
Kalil will be a mainstay ala Ron Yary for 10+years.

How smart do you have to be to line-up across from someone and not let them catch the ball??

Smart enough that you don’t have 2 pounds of dope sent Fed Ex to you.

Smart enough that you don’t assault a cop a week before the draft.

Smart enough that you don’t fly in strippers from Atlanta for a little boat ride.

Smart enough that you don’t shoot yourself in a after hours night club in New York.

Smart enough that you don’t set-up a major drug distribution operation in Chicago.

Smart enough that you won’t stomp a opposing player when you are getting paid millions to play a game.

Smart enough not to get involved with a underage teenage girl.

If the Vikes do trade out, another stud WR and local guy Floyd could be available in the 8-14 spots.

Can you tell I want the Vikes to take a WR!!
