Ok, you guys have not let me down before.

I hate my current shop vac and am looking for a new one.

Looking for a 4-6 gallon that is reliable. I have seem some good reviews for the Home Depot Rigid version made by Emerson. Does anyone use this ?

    Thanks…

I have a wall-mounted Rigid in my garage and I love it. No problems all all the the accessories seem to be good quality as well.

I have a Home Depot version, but the 16-gallon Vac & Blower.

The one tool from HD that I really get my moneys worth.

The Motor unit on top comes off with the click of a latch and then attach a tube and nozzle to transform it into a blower. Much quieter than most electric blowers and does a great job.

    2- for their vac’s.

My 20 year old Craftman wont die. Not saying they are still this good but they sure were when I bought it.

I’ve got an inexpensive Rigid. The top doesn’t stay snapped. I broke the plastic bolt that keeps the filter on it but it runs good going on 7 years old.

What, exactly, do you hate about your current vac?

To me, the main thing that mattered is the noise level. Some of the el cheapo models scream like a freaking jet engine. Avoid at all costs. This is a little difficult to objectively compare, but some vacs advertise a DB noise rating.

After bringing home a couple of models to test, I ended up with a Craftsman 16 gallon. It was almost as quiet as the Shop Vac QSP, but it was cheaper and had better suction.

Then do yourself a favor and go out and buy the CleanStream reusable gore-tex filter. These things are just awesome. They are a fantastic filter, but even better you can clean them by spraying them down with the garden hose. Those paper filters that come with the vacs are useless it it’s crazy to pay $15 each for them when they get too dirty.

Another benefit of the Cleanstream is that you don’t have to remember to remove the paper filter when sucking up wet stuff.

If the newer craftsman shop vacs are as good as the older ones thats what I would get. We had one for years and it had some serious power. The motor burned up on it, but it was old and worked hard sucking up water from the flooded basement multiple times, so I wouldn’t hesitate buying one.

The Shop vac we have now doesn’t have nearly the power of the craftsman and the top and bottom don’t seal together very well. I have actually seen stuff blow out the side as you are vaccuming. Its one of the smaller yellow/black Shop Vac brand.

I have a 10 year old craftsman. The filter does not stay, but falls down into the bucket all the time. This creates a nice cloud of dust through the exhaust. I have been living with it this way for a while and figure now is the time to make a move.

I bought a 16 gallon Shop Vac. It has so much suction it would crush the hose that came with it. I had to buy a crush-proof one for another $30. Good performance now but still pissed that a good hose didn’t come with it.

My ridged has worked well for years now. 200 bucks or so. I can’t remember. Drywall concrete etc still no issues use it almost daily.

Our craftsman had a plate that held the filter up, so we had no such problem.

The new Shop Vac has the problem of the filter falling down, probably could just run a piece of wire to hold it up.
