Prior commitmntments(FW)keep me from fishing today so I’m watching the hunting/fishing shows until she’s ready. I saw a claim made by Burris for their Eliminator Laser Scope touting 300 yd range for muzzleloaders and slug guns. With no wind I can shoot around 150 yds with my Browning 12 gauge A-Bolt using 2 3/4″ Winchester Supreme. I don’t think a 300 yd shot is realistic. Anybody else think a 300yd shot is possible, even with a high quality rifled slug gun using premium ammo?
What exactly was the claim that they’re making on the show? I’m thinking that it has to do with the maximum range that the scope can measure rather than the distance of an actual shot. The point being that the scope is capable of measuring distances beyond what you’d normally encounter or attempt while hunting with a muzzloader.
I didn’t look it up, but my guess is that this scope would be cheaper and more compact than their rifle rangefinder scope. I think it retails for over $900 and if I recall correctly it can measure out to 500 yards. IMO it looks heavy and bulky, so this is probably one place where you don’t want to buy more than you need.
