Quick questions. I bought a new Alumacraft Navigator 165 CS and I am going to be purchasing a Minn kota terrova 80 lb. bow mount trolling motor for it. My question is which length shaft should I get for it the 54″ or the 60″?

the 60 inches may not be used all of the time, but if you get out in any wave the motor won’t be popping in and out of the water. It won’t hurt to have the extra shaft length.

Thanks guys, looks like I’m going with the 60″ shaft. Love this site!

I have a alumacraft dominator 175, i got a 60 terrova, youll be glad you got the 60 when you are in some heavy wave action, and youre trolling motor stays in the water

Get the 60. MK don’t make it in a 54 with the i-pilot.

if you do a lot of sideways casting off the front deck, the extra shaft length can get in the way, as a bass fisherman this is very important.

can always move the length of shaft in the water up and down if its in way. 60″ all the way!

I run a 175 navigator, and even with a 60″ shaft set all the way down, if you are running it from the back of the boat in big waves, it will still come out of the water. With a shorter shaft, you would have to go home when you can still function on the 60.

Fishing muskies from the back of the boat by myself on a large lake (3500 acres) for my area, but small lake in most proportions when the wind is up, my 60 is still coming out of the water, but I would still vote in favor of the 60!!!
