Hey guys just bought a new boat and it has a minnekota 62 lb auto pilot on it and was wondering if anyone could let me know how it works as far as the auto pilot! I have the foot pedal for it and know how to run that but as far as the auto pilot goes I don’t have a clue! Is there a hand held device for it or how does auto to something? I can’t find a manual online and not one in boat! Any info would be great, and much appreciated! Thanks

With the autopilot you point the motor in the direction you want to go and push the button on the head of your TM. I have this function but all mine has ever really done is jump around. It’s never worked right. Hope you have better luck.

If you switch the auto pilot on. When you turn the trolling motor it will correct it self to keep it pointed in the same direction.

My auto pilot started jumping around too. I had a dinged prop, replaced it and it cut the vibration down but the jumping around continued on a less frequent basis. I talked to a Minn Kota repair office and they said bring it in. The auto pilot board was bad. They replaced it and now everything stays locked in.

Those boards are really easy to change… and as said, will solve the problem 90% of the time. There are great parts blow-ups on the web, and with a little time, it is just short of plug and play.
