To go along with the discussion, let’s do a poll.

Assume it’s a typical stadium deal with the costs split among the team/city/state as proposed.

I typically would say no public funds but we are down to the 11th hour and I think the Vikings moving away would end up being a bad thing for our state. The Wilf’s have held strong and I say we say “Uncle” and give in…RR

I don’t understand those percentages. I believe they will leave if they don’t get a new stadium. Then we would only have the Twins, Wild, Wolves and Jesse to be embaressed about.

I’m a Packers fan and voted yes. My personal opinion is get away from the Twin Cities and get it out to the Arden Hills or similar land area where there is plenty of parking for everyone all with tailgating.

I didn’t vote because there was no dollar total listed.

If the cost is $750 million with the Vikings in for 50% then yes, build it. If they insist on 1 BILLION DOLLARS let them start packing.

Completely invalid poll given people from out-state with no obligation to pay or to the state will be able to vote.

I worked on the construction of the new twins stadium and gopher stadium and would like to be part of the construction of a new vikings stadium. I dont think they deserve a new stadium though. its alot of money to spend to just watch them lose..because thats really all they do!

I say forget the vikes and build more museums, libraries and bike paths. After all, every night on the news it is news, weather and museum segments. No one cares about sports. It is meaningless.

    As stated, it’s as proposed.

What are the specifics of the agreement and the financing plan?
The proposal for the $975 million project includes a $427 million team/ private contribution, the third-largest private contribution in NFL history and 44% of the up-front capital costs. The Vikings will pay $13 million in annual operating expenses/capital improvement funding for the publicly-owned facility that will be used for other events throughout the year. When combining the Vikings’ capital contribution and the team’s share of operating expenses/capital improvement funding, the private contribution covers more than half (50.6%) of the project’s life- cycle costs.

The agreement also outlines a $150 million contribution from the City from funds primarily generated through existing taxes as well as $398 from the State via electronic pull-tabs revenue.

    Two questions……….

    1) If this is such a good deal why doesn’t Ziggy finance it himself and take all the revenue from all these events?

    2) as proposed Zigs offer will include up to $100 million from the NFL, over (estimated)$80 million in naming rights over 30 years. Also he no longer will pay the ticket tax that he currently pays. He also will receive free rent for a pro soccer team he intends to buy. So, should I really be happy that he willing to pony up a few bucks for this stadium?

Oh, I guess I have one more question.

    3) Would Ziggy build a BILLION DOLLAR stadium if he had to pay for it himself?

And transfer ownership to cities so they can give lake associations powers to block them?

Yes. And even though Mike W doesn’t watch the sports segment, apparently some people do.

They were in the NFC Championship game just three year ago, the Wilf’s are probably the best owners MN has ever seen.

They will pay whatever price is required to win. What else can you ask for?

Because it’s market price. This is what every other team gets, he’s not dumb.

If Pug touches a hot stove every hour and burns himself should I………….

    A) learn from his mistake

    B) touch the hot stove because Pug did?

The part that pays of a half a BILLION DOLLARS plus service debt over 30 years.
