I love my terrova and I love using the hand held remote…problem is…my thumb gets really tender from pressing the control buttons all day. Does anyone know if there is an updated control available with softer buttons? I know…it sounds like I’m complaining like a little girl. My thumbs hurt GD it.

I have heard others with the same issue on the old remote. Having purchased the new remote, I have not had any problems after several 10+ hour days on the water.
April 18, 2012 at 6:07 pm #1060170The last post said they have a new remote but only comes with new units.
April 18, 2012 at 6:24 pm #1060186The gen 2 remote is avail seperately.
and will work with gen 1 Ipilot
but since the stoplocks and tracks are stored in the head part of the Ipilot, that is what determines how many of each you will have.
gen 1 3 of each
gen 2 6 of eachApril 18, 2012 at 6:35 pm #1060189just picked up a new remote and there is no comparison it blows the old one away
April 18, 2012 at 7:17 pm #1060199How much is the new remote by itself? The old one is killer on my thumb!

April 18, 2012 at 7:36 pm #1060204If MinnKota expects me to buy a new one I’m going to complain and demonstrate that the one that came with my motor “harms” me. I have very clear blisters from using it so much….I know that sounds like a threat and a bit overstated but I’d expect them to do a very clear straight up trade for a new control that doesn’t cause blisters. I know the boot store will even exchange boots that don’t fit properly.

MinnKota has some of the best customer service around, but I would be shocked if they sent you a new one in exchange for the old one. If the old one were defective I could see it, but it works fine. I had a button on my original terrova remote break. The frame work on the inside was really stiff and the new one they shipped to me was much better. That may cure the issue. I have an extra replacement that I no longer need and you can have it if you want it. I live in Andover. PM me if you want to come and get it and see if that helps your issue.

They still have a stock pile of the old ones and you will not get a new one for a defective old one. You will get a replacement old one. I am living proof

+1. 3 full days in a row….no sore fingers or blisters. Easier to tell if button was pushed and screen easier to see. Worth the $$ IMO. Picked mine up for $150ish on-line. good luck…
