Love to fish and have belonged to this forum since it was Fish the River. I’m 63 and have learned a lot here. Day to get away and left at 5:30 this morning. 35 min. drive and I’m below Winona dam. Been doing great there since Nov. Nothing today(own fault). Moved to Lake Winona to get some pan fish for a meal. Are there any game wardens around? I saw guys on shore and boats that I thought were throwing stuff for Jeremy Wade. Whats going on, thats inland waters

I doubt they where going for cats and carp. that lake is a great for bass and I bet these people were casting for them.

I seriously doubt they are fishing cats or carp out there either. That has been an issue out there every spring in my opinion. I also believe it’s possibly a bigger issue this year with the early ice out

People are dumb, and think fishing regulations are too apparently.
I posted last year about kids running across the street with two dead five lb. bass. Grown men out in a boat though… no excuse.

Put the DNR tip line number in your phone and hopefully someone will come and give them a ticket.

I have only fished Winona a couple of times to kill time between meetings, etc. Then only from the fishing dock located on the road that splits the lake. What can you expect catch out there in a boat? Or from another shore spot?

I’ve posted about this before. It happens every year. I guess the DNR just doesn’t care? It’s not like it’s hard to see or they’re miles away (what’s the refuge office, like 6 blocks from the lake?).

I saw a middle aged guy walking down Kato ave a couple weeks ago with a 15lb+ northern. Ignorance of the law would be the excuse I guess.

Here’s an honest question: If you answer the game warden’s question “whatcha fishin for”….with “I don’t know” or “whatever bites”….can you get a ticket?
