Found a little mother of pearl handled pen knife on Box slough near Lansing Iowa while ice fishing with my father 45 yrs ago.I still have it and use it often. Have my fathers Old Timer skinning knife from way back before I was born.It resides in his desk for when I need a jolt of memories. Lost my black boy scout knife, wish I still had it.
I can’t carry one in my pocket, its got a 12″ blade like crocadile Dundie,,,Ya Ya Ya, I know. The only time I use it is when I shave with it every morning, Ya Ya Ya, I know, no loss of self esteem here this morning. Sometimes things are so full of bull -hit.
My wife always tells me to shut the door to the bathroom, she doesn’t want to hear me scream,,,I haven’t shaved in a week because it hasen’t stormed. I put the knife on the roof, grounded to a copper wire so the lightning sharpens it, it hasen’t stormed here in a week, the wifes praying for a storm…
Coming from a kid. I never grew up with one, I have never owned one but I could see getting one in the future but just for the truck/boat.
This amazes me. We have a whole generation that has never carried a knife. When I was a kid it was a milestone kind of thing, when you were finally deemed old enough to carry a knife. I was eight when my Dad gave me a knife and I remember it was a big deal. I’ve always carried at least one since then.
I’m trying to remember the last time I went more than a few hours without pulling out the Leatherman to do something.
At least four sitting on my dresser. Depends on pants and destination as to which gets carried. One in the truck, the tool box, tool pouch, tackle box and hunting gear. Have old ones from my father and have given to my son and a friends son with the understanding about school rules. If you don’t carry one, How do you clean your finger nails??
