i have a 94 f150 that the fuel pump in front tank doesnt work, back tank every now and then. I have replaced the switch on the dash, reset the inertia switch and replaced the fuel pumps. now i need to trace wires to look for a ground wire. Any ideas as to where it might be?

Not sure if the 94’s have it but on my 04 there is a smaller black plactic box up above the spare tire that has some type of control over the fuel pump. Somehow the case cracked and allowed water in and fuel pump would come and go.

I’d suggests a hande ID change. I’ve seen you post a couple threads abut Ford issues and I’m beginning to think you truck is doing this to you in spite.

For a gear head it seems like you sure got a lemon???? Did you not even look the truck over before you bought it? I have to agree with the ford bashing karma.

My guess is the ground will be attached to the frame closest to where the lead goes into the tank. If not, just create a new ground to the frame. This is what I did on my old GMC. It has not blown up yet.

thanks everybody. i knew the truck had issues but figured that after i worked through all the kinks it would be a truck that would serve our family better than my old one. There was room in a standard cab for the 3 of us, but anyone with a 10 year old knows that you dont wanna go on a long trip with them sitting in the middle. far as the gear head part; i know carbs and mechanicle pumps and what not. Ill be the first to tell ya I know nothing about the newer stuff. their seems to be a relay for everything and a “special” tool needed for all but putting in gas. The older bowties have always been my sweet spot on trucks. Something about the sharp lines on the 3rd gens in perticular. I do happen to like the beefy looks that the 70’s era fords have as well. Gas prices are forcing people to scrap them though and its a shame. I know, some of yall prefer the newer stuff and I aint knocking ya for it, but those old trucks have alot of character and personality. Im going to school for my ASE certification so that I can rebuild and preserve them. Just dont know if their is going to be a market for it when I get out. Ill always be heavy chevy no matter what im driving. after all, “It runs deep,”. lol

These were some of the best looking trucks ever made. For some reason they were very comfortable to ride in as well. My first vehicle was a ’79 F150 flatbed.
