    Hello,

I have been looking at the Acadia and the traverse for one main reason. Bucket seats in the middle back row. Need those because we will have 3 kids in car seats. I know the Enclave has that option also but little spendy. The year class I have been looking at is 2009 but also a couple 2008 Acadia. Any input on which vehicle is better. They kind of are the same in my opinion but thought maybe some advice here would help steer me In one direction or the other. Thanks.

The later models have an updated trans. The early units had some shifting issues.

Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, Chevy Traverse, and Buick Enclave are the same vehicle with just some variations in body molding style. All have the option for bucket seats in the second and third row. nice vehicles.

with what year your looking at make sure the tires are in good shape. The tires on the Acadia are very spendy. Price a set of them and you will be shocked.

I bought a dealer certified 2007 GMC Acadia SLT2 that was 1 1/2 years old when I got it. Terrific car and no problems.
I traded that in a few months ago for a new 2012 Acadia Denali.
You will love it. Awesome car and a real eye turner.
    Pulls the boat no problem.
If you have a boat to pull, make sure what you get is the all the time AWD, and the factory towing package.
    good luck.
If you are in the south Mpls metro, you can drive mine if you want to.

    Jack,
What size boat do you pull? How “well” does it tow compared to a pickup?

I just sent Chad a PM to answer his same question. I didn’t see your questions til a moment ago.

I tow an Alumacraft Trophy 175 w/150 yammy and T8. Pulls VERY nicely. I’d really have to reiterate, the full time AWD makes the most sense, and to make sure to also have the factory towing package (includes trans oil cooler).

Compared to trucks that are out now a days, am sure they are very good, but for just towing, I’d rather have the full size SUV. The Denali has big 20 inch wheels and tires. For mileage, it is rated at 23 for highway, but I can get near 30 when doing 45-50. When towing it is more like 13-14. I also shift into L, so I do ALL my own shifting when towing.

    hope that helps

Thought I’d also throw in a picture. I really think it is a stunningly great looking car.

I own a 2011 front wheel drive Traverse. When I pull my 16.5 boat on a not so windy day, I will get 17.5-18 mpg. That same day and no boat, 23-24 mph. If it wasn’t for the transmission shifting a little more I would not know the boat was there.Having the cover on the boat makes a world of difference, so much easier to pull.

    Joe,
I’m not talking freeways, Dakota county has lots of 45 to 50 mph limits.

wew!!! I was hoping you were going to say something like that.

I am seriously thinking of cashing in half of my mancard and getting a Prius to commute with.

Just a rule of thumb, if your mileage drops in half or more when towing, your vehicle is under powered for towing that load/conditions. A good rule of thumb is 30% loss of efficiency.
