I-phone or I-pad

I’m in need for advice from some people who have experience with these two items.

I’m taking a new job that will greatly benefit from having an I-phone or I-pad plus the other obvious fun things I can do with both.

My fiance and other family/friends have I-phones so I’ve had a chance to play with them a fair bit. My mom has both the I-pad and I-phone so I’ve had a chance to play with the I-pad. I just don’t know how much I’m going to want to carry around a “bulky” (folder sized) I-pad. At work and at carrying it around for use is a non-issue but I really don’t see me carrying it elsewhere. The I-phone obviously goes in my pocket.

I would appreciate any insight that anyone has on this topic. Good or bad experience.

The deciding factor for me would be what are you going to do on it? If it’s anything that has a lot of info on the screen at once, the Ipad is going to be much easier to read. If not, the convenience of the Iphone would be nicer.

I have both, but I prefer the convenience of my iphone. Since I bought my iphone a few months ago, my kids have taken over the ipad and I can do everything I need on my iphone.

I have both at work. I’d lean towards getting the iphone before the ipad, but as has been mentioned it really depends on what you’ll be doing with it. Email? iPhone. Document review? iPad.

The only way I’d lean toward Ipad is if you need to do extensive typing. You can get the folders with built in keyboards and you can type close to normal with them. Iphones are peck, peck, peck and the keys are small. Short messages only. I have both and I use the Iphone more but have replaced carrying my laptop with the much smaller Ipad.

If you get an Ipad, make sure your work will support it.

Neither, get Android so you can customize it how you want. I’ve had and HTC Evo for a couple of years and love it. Great phone. Purchased a Toshiba Thrive 10″ tablet a couple of months ago with an Android system and it’s great!! Full HDMI output so you can connect it to any TV. You can add an SD card for more space and has a full sized usb port so you can add even more. Try customizing or adding any storage to an iPhone or iPad, you can’t. And they cost a lot more than the Android systems.

Don’t get me wrong, Apple products are very nice, but I like to be able to customize and not be stuck with an 8 gig iPhone or iPad if I decide I want more storage down the road.

Im guessing once you get one you will get the other. I just got an ipad and so far it is awesome. Its nice that the apps work on both I hate my droid phone and will more than likely switching to the iphone once im up for a new one.
So if maybe you dont work backwards like me and get the phone first you wont need the ipad.

I agree with this statement, I have an andiod phone and a Ipad, and an android tablet and as much as I like the ipad, android gives me more power and bang for the buck, I do often tether my ipad to my phone so I can have Internet access.

But if you have to choose the iphone is way more versatile.

Talking with the guy at Verizon he told me the same thing. Android if you like to tweak and customize and I-Phone if you like to plug and play. I’m a plug and play guy myself.

If the rest of the family is on iphone/pad, facetime is a nice perk, especially for the kids as my wife works a lot of nights. That was the decider for me. Had been a blackberry user for the passed four years. There are some things I miss, but am adjusting. My wife has both an iphone and an ipad and uses both pretty consistently. I would say phone though for the sake of convenience.

Yeah, I’m leaving and will be on the road a ton this summer. So Facetime is a feature we definitely plan on taking advantage of.

if you like buying hardware that is 6+ months old already and overpriced, by all means, go with an iPhone.

If you want cutting edge technology, that works on all platforms, with upgradeable memory, OS Updates, free apps, an enormous developer support base, and actual useable screens – Go with an Android device.

But hey, when you own an iPhone, at least you get to tell everyone that…

Don’t think android isn’t plug and play, better more powerful phones and they are cheaper, I would bet there area couple different options available to do the same thing as facetime, across apple and android.

I guess one of the reasons I was thinking iWhatever is because my mom had a droid smart phone and it sucked. She ditched it about two weeks after she got it and went to iPhone and has been happy.

Of course that’s why I am asking. This is not my area of expertise.

As an Android phanboi, I was hoping my other Android fans would stay out of this.

If the rest of the family has iPhones and iPads, stick with Apple, no question about it. That way you can FaceTime and use other apps together. I’d say the same if it were reversed. If the rest of the family had Android products I’d say stick with Android.

There’s nothing better than a compatible, standardized family.
