“Aquatic Invasive Species Rules” decal

I’m headed up to Rainy River next week so I downloaded the MN fishing regs. I read that you needed to dispaly an “Aquatic Invasive Species Rule” decal on your boat before entering the waters. I’m from Iowa so the question is, do I need one and if I do, how do I get one. I didn’t see anything in the regs. about this, just that I needed one.

    Thanks in advance.

It says any boat operating on state waters, so I assume so. You can call 1-888-646-6367 and aske though. They are not chargeable offenses until 2014, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Was at Frontier access last weekend and witnessed the local MN Wardens having a lunch break at the access. they came over to check license, but said nothing about an AIS sticker..

Thanks for the replies! I just called the MN DNR and they said, as was stated above, this isn’t enforceable until 2014. I just ordered my sticker for future trips.

I guess. She took my info. and said it will be in the mail tomorrow. Maybe it’s more of an education thing, a visual reminder when you see it on your boats and others.

I’m sure glad they are not specific about location for this awful looking hunk of trash. I see it going in the splash well.

Wow. You’d defile a virgin splash well like that?

I was thinking about on the underside of the doors of the anchor lockers.

BTW, I just love hearing about all my tax dollars being spent mailing these thins out because the DNR couldn’t find their sticker with both hands.

Hey DNR geniuses out there here’s a radical thought: Since I just renewed all 3 of my boat registrations this year, why could you not have sent a sticker with each one of them?

I plan on laminating it, instead of sticking it on my bassboat..

    Per the DNR Website:
“If the owner does not want to stick the decal on the boat because it is an antique wooden boat or other unique boat, they may attach the decal to an object or laminate it and attach it like a luggage tag.”

My registration expires end of this year. I’ll just wait and see if they send me one.
