This magic AIS preventing sticker isn’t required until 2014 I’ll wait till then to use it’s magical invasive preventing powers
March 28, 2012 at 2:16 pm #1053396So does this mean the printer ‘caught up’ and that it will be available everywhere soon? I swear this thing was implemented so incredibly poorly..
March 28, 2012 at 2:16 pm #1053397Since I’m moving my boat to WI, my sticker will be magic and invisible.
March 28, 2012 at 2:19 pm #1053401Tim, I believe there are two stickers, a silver one that went into effect August 2011 and a future one that will replace it come 2014 or 2015. Am I wrong?

Non residents are covered by a entirely diffrent magical power that protects their boats against the evil AIS
March 28, 2012 at 2:24 pm #1053404Please read this press release from the MN DNR regarding the sticker
DNR will have booths at Northwest Sportshow in Minneapolis
(Released March 26, 2012)
Outdoor enthusiasts can learn about fishing, hunting, hiking trails, water safety and much more by visiting the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) booths at the 80th Annual Northwest Sportshow, which runs March 28-April 1 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
DNR specialists will be available to answer questions at the main DNR booth located in Lobby D. The DNR License Center will be selling state parks stickers, and fishing and hunting licenses.
Attendees can also visit the DNR’s invasive species information booth in Lobby C to pick up educational materials and talk with invasive species staff and conservation officers specializing in invasive species issues. The new aquatic invasive species rules decal, which is required for all boats, will be available for free at the booth.
The DNR Enforcement Division will also offer an interactive LaserShot shooting range for youth and adults. This family favorite gives participants a chance to test their skills at one of four shooting simulation stations. The range located in the lobby near the entrance to Hall C.
Daily admission is $10 for adults 16 and older. Youth 15 and younger are admitted for free. On March 29, seniors 62 and older will receive a discounted admission of $7 for the day.

I actually called and spoke to the lady at the number listed in the boating regulations a few weeks back. She said that this will not need to be displayed until 2014 so it wasn’t a big deal that the stickers were not printed.
She also said they were getting a lot of calls about it. The boating regulations only mention that the sticker is required, but nothing about 2014 See page 23.

That sounds about right but neither are required until 2014. Then by that time they’ll have difrent stickers with 2X the AIS preventing magic as the ones available now.

By then they will have changed the law. Reminds me of the infamous stud sticker for sleds.
March 28, 2012 at 2:33 pm #10534142x the magic! I just can not wait that long. So many sleepless nights until then.
Oh! I did not know there is one for the trailer to. So does that make it 4x as special?

Were those magic stickers as well? It seems our DNR has a history in dealing with magic.

Vern, The AIS rules decal is required by law and we do now have some available (shipping to DNR offices this week). Not having a sticker is only punishable by a warning up until August 2014, after that is becomes a petty misdemeanor.
Luke
March 28, 2012 at 2:38 pm #1053419Hmmm…I’m not going to the boat show. Would that mean I’m exempt?
Emissions control here we come!

Sadly it’s just one sticker that you cut in half and put one half on your trailer and the other half on your boat. I’m told that cutting the sticker has no ill effect on it’s magical powers though

Big brother can “warn” me all they want. No ugly azz sticker on my boat until it’s required by law.
But they better be harassing me legally when they do it. Of course I usually speed so…… they’ll have a reason to pull me over.

Indeed they were. I have every one ever made. Maybe some picker will give me big $ some day.

Cool I fish almost every day from may- ice up I wonder how many warnings I can get in 2 years.
March 28, 2012 at 2:44 pm #1053426As these were not available when I registered, shouldn’t my sticker be mailed to me? As I understand they are only available at sport shows and boat dealers? Why should I have to go out of my way to get the stupid thing?

Can I just give them my email address so they can email me the warnings in advance? I don’t so much mind the C.O.’s coming up to chat, but those annoying buggers at the boat landings are worse than mosquitoes.
March 28, 2012 at 2:47 pm #1053430My thought is that requiring this sticker is a better outcome then what the Lakeshore Association folks wanted. I highly doubt that any angler anywhere isn’t also concerned about the spread of an AIS. I’m putting my sticker on my boat, since I suspect the more education we can do the better.
March 28, 2012 at 2:56 pm #1053438I am senseing sarcasm from some of you.
So where can I get a sticker for my fishing pole, fishing line, reel, bait bucket, shoes, landing net, water proof camera, dock and pet pelican? I suppose I will need one for the bird feeder out front too, since the annual pair of ducks has shown up. What language do ducks speak?
March 28, 2012 at 2:58 pm #1053441I guess I’ll put the sticker on my boat. Having it on the boat could mean the difference between a 5 minute chat or a full blown 20 minute chat while they run your license through there data base then checking your safety equipment..
I hope they will give me 3 stickers. 1 for both my boats and the extra to put in a frame in my house.
March 28, 2012 at 3:07 pm #1053446Sarcasm on this page? About AIS? I’m shocked. It’s a good thing we don’t have a bunch of Charleton Heston types that won’t put a sticker on until they unwrap their cold dead hands from their boat. Heaven forbid that someone would do the right thing with out being forced, fined or denied access.

The AIS toaster (available shortly) will conveniently toast the AIS warning into any sandwiches you may want to bring on the boat with you.
And remember, only approved AIS-free water bottles will be allowed in your boat, so make sure to go get some of those. We wouldn’t want you to get dehydrated.

So now you dont like my 2nd amendment rights either? Buzz you get better every day
March 28, 2012 at 3:13 pm #1053450Hey Buzz. To be clear, I have no problem displaying this and want to comply. I am all for education about AIS. I just have a problem with the implementation of the stickers. These should have been readily available at the DMV/License centers as soon as they started selling 2014 licenses..
