Being a third generation cattle man I had to reply on this issue. I deal in feeder cattle from Wisconsin to Wyoming.
I get to see cow/calf operations and feedlots all across the midwest. I am also in the salebarn business.
Point is, the beef you are eating is the safest in the WORLD ! There are more safe guards in place to protect you the consumer, that I wouldn’t have time to list them all here. From the producer who feeds the cattle to the packer who slaughters them, product safety is their first priority !
I get so pissed every time the media bashes the beef industry because they don’t know what they’re talking about. When Oprah beat us up a few years ago it cost the cattle industry BILLIONS. The beef industry has taken a lot of flak over the years and is still surviving.
As far as you “organic” guys, I would prefer an animal that has been treated for grubs, lice, lung worms, tape worms, brucellosis, tuberculosis, foot rot, red nose, black leg, hemopholus somnous, BVD, and all the other bovine related parasites and diseases before it goes to kill.
But do as you want. It’s America.
I also get pissed at the Nat’l Cattleman’s Assoc. for not rebuffing the hogwash the media comes up with. That’s what the cattlemen pay them to do.
I gotta go, the burgers are ready. Medium rare, Like their sposed to be !
