Mille Lacs – Pre – season Walleye Fishing

Anyone going this year? I was thinking of heading up on April 30th – May 5th. With early ice out, they should be biting good and no one will be out there, except a few people spearing and netting by the light of a flood light and in a modern fishing boat.

Looking for an update on the court case –

That would be illegal, To target a species out of season. I don’t know if someone would check you or not.

Been pounding them on leeches. The crawler, spinner and crank bite has been slow.

    No worries, C&R.

Read the last line of the 1st paragraph and it explains it all.

Sorry. Out of season fishing is one of my hottest buttons.

The best place to load the freezer is out in the woods – just follow your nose and there will be plenty of fish – for everyone.

Nothing better than 3 day old fillets – laying in the woods – grab them and throw them in the oil.

Just watch out for the flies and their eggs – they cook out – if the oil is warm enough.

Which makes me wonder why the DNR is never out checking the vertical jiggers on the Croix between March 1 and opener

Jesse, it was amazing to see the boats out on the croix yesterday and definitely not in anything but walleye/sauger spots…..idiots

Law enforcement never comes out until season is open. They dont care or are underfunded, blah blah blah. Meanwhile the jerks still keep jerkin.

Anyone not following the laws and rules should be kicked in the head. Just makes it harder for the guys that do.

I can only imagine the explanations that guys give the Conservation officers when they’re “pre-fishing” for walleyes.. All pre-thought out for sure. “Hey, I have 3 5″perch in my well,, c’mere & look, I’m jigging for perch” I’m sure the binocs are used heavily for more than just a minute or two to make sure they know for sure.

The excuses some guys give are just that. You cannot keep accidentally catching out of season fish. That only happens twice. The third time you have a reasonable expectation therefore you are pursueing and a poacher. Even if the eyes are mixed in with crappies.
