Never would I ever believed that I would have to mow the yard on March 25. At least it was a beautiful afternoon. I also noticed the moles are on the move. Time to load the shot gun.

Don’t even remind me. I hate yard work and it simply sucks we are starting in March.
I shifted my Shitaki logs Friday and had some decent mushrooms already hangin there. I see more out there today. Makes me wonder if the morels might not be popping up in places too.
My husband almost mowed today too. He talked himself out of it. I did however rid the gardens of the old dead stuff, and I can’t believe how green everything is already!!
Got the boat out of storage (barn) I put bounce dryer sheets in last fall and there were no mice at all good advice. It’s clean and ready for the lake
mowed 2 times already, dethatched, aerated and put down crabgrass preventer!
I just dried out the Clam X2 and put the dryer sheets in too… see it next fall !!! Got the batteries tested and they will go in the boat in a couple weeks
Grass raked and batteries in the boat already to go. Will need to mow in a week or so, but hopefully get the boat out before that.
Lawn mowed and had to spray dandelions already today. My it is going to be a long summer.
I cut the grass today because we were supposed to go see our 20 mo. age Grand Daughter. Something came up and now I have to go fishing. I’d much rather have the first choice but the second ain’t half bad. Gonna try trolling north Pepin. Then I have to get the weed eater running[shudder].
I cleaned up the backyard and thought to myself, next week mowing season begins.
I also noticed the dang moles are on the move. I’ve had them before, but sometimes I just the paths in the spring and then they are gone.
I still have to put down the crab grass preventer/fertilizer, although the crab grass is already popping along with the dandylions.
If I know you, and I think I do, that almost sounds like one of my lines! But, I agree, fishing has got to be even more miserable than mowing or shopping with the Mrs. (ever so charming that she is….) ……..( I hope I’m not grounded again!)

If the crab grass has already sprouted, don’t waste your money on preventer. You need to apply before the seed germinates.
I got as far as getting the mower out and starting it. Saved the mowing for next week because I had lots of other projects to work on!

I know, that’s why I said, “although the crab grass is already popping”. Sorry, poor sentence structure. But I have the combo fertilizer/weed control, so that’s why it is going to be applied, despite it not being effective on the crab grass.
Even worse, the Creeping Charlie appears to be loving the mild winter and is sprouting with a vengeance!
I wonder if the mold and bacteria that grows under the snow during a normal winter has any affect on weeds? If nothing else, maybe making them more vulnerable to herbicide. I think it is going to be a tough year battling weeds. Good thing my lawn is crap to start, so I don’t feel bad if I put up a minimal effort.
am no expert of crab grass but you still have time–doesnt germinate til seeds–which is roughly when soil reaches what is it 50-60 degrees i think–if lilac are blooming that is time you want it down for sure by–well before they bloom—but we are for sure a month ahead of normal years it seems—and i already caught a mole in neighbor yard for him!!
Partially, but “honey” is me.
I made a good dent in my list. I committed to refurbing a glider bench for my mother-in-law for our cabin. It had seen better days, so I completely rebuilt it out of cedar and made some structural improvements over the original. I’m quite happy with it–hope she likes it!
I took care of all my lawn chores for the summer. Took the ATV sprayer out and sprayed the lawn with Round Up hate mowing lawn. Maybe get a better crop next year. But I doubt it….
Looks great today, nice work!
I love the smell of fresh cut cedar… will NEVER use it for an outdoor project again. Had a cedar deck for 12 years and it was pain . Please send post a pic 2 years from today.

What a son-in-law. Nice work.
I get to use her cabin and boats all summer long…it’s the least I could do.
