We hit the Alma Float Wednesday. Pretty good luck with northerns(kept 10. 2-4 lbs) & some 9″ to-12″ perch. We did catch a northern covered with blue spots. Checking the Web, we found it was a type of virus (like herpes, very contagious) that develops when the water turns from real cold to warm quickly, like this year. It will clear up after the weather stabilizes. You can prevent the spread of this virus by washing your line & gear before heading out again. Just a precaution. Easy enough to do before this becomes more common & real problem. Gonna try again this weekend, weather (and honey-do list permitting.)

Sounds like a good time other then the one northern. That sounds kind of nasty. Might get the boat out this weekend. We will have to get together this spring for another outing. This time open water.

I caught a northern about a mile above Alma on Thursday with those blue spots!! Only 1 out of 5 total had spots. Thanks for the info.
