Heading over for lunch. Went to one in Orlando and it was good. Anyone else have any input on them?

It’s a chain concept. If you have had one, you have had them all.
March 22, 2012 at 2:56 pm #1051443Just had them 2 days ago, live in Woodbury and haven’t tried before- Wasn’t impressed, I’d take a Culver’s mushroom swiss double ANY day before their poor excuse for a burger- they fill you up on Fries-My 2cents
March 22, 2012 at 3:06 pm #1051449We tried the one in Rochester a month or two ago. I thought it was good and would definitely go back. I had a bacon cheeseburger and thought they gave me the wrong order when I opened it and it was a double. I guess that’s what their regular burgers are.
March 22, 2012 at 3:11 pm #1051453Wow. You guys sound like my opionin on smash burgers.
I wish they would have put a Culvers in here instead of Smash and 5-guys.March 22, 2012 at 3:22 pm #1051459+1 amen brotha, sucks having to take the freeway to get to the one in E st. paul- def worth the extra drive for a good burger though
March 22, 2012 at 3:38 pm #1051467I like the food there. But I won’t be returning until someone tells me they have turned down the volume on the music. Drives me nuts.
March 22, 2012 at 3:39 pm #10514695 guys have great bugers, not a huge fan of the fries, seems like they are always under cooked when I order them.
March 22, 2012 at 3:47 pm #1051471I like 5 Guys–load the burgers up with good stuff!
I think Smash Burger sucks
March 22, 2012 at 3:55 pm #1051474ordered the spiced or cajun fries at one in Charlotte. They were coated so bad that I didn’t know they was fries with the powder. I love hot spicy food, but this was crazy. Gave us another order of fries without hesitation. Not as good as Culvers, but better than most fast food.
starvin pilgrimPosts: 335March 22, 2012 at 4:02 pm #1051479I like Smashburger, get the BB-bacon with egg and there sweet potato fries are to die for. I do rate a good fresh Culvers butter burger slightly ahead though.
5 guys I tried once and it was pretty boring….may give it another try with fixings added.March 22, 2012 at 4:02 pm #1051480we really enjoy the one here. Must have a good manager, never once had a bad meal. There’s a Red Robin next door and my kids still want 5 Guys. A single is plenty burger for me, and one reg fry is enough for 2 or 3.

We didn’t think Red Robin was to bad, way to noisy and crowded for our tastes though, Culvers is always a go to, and the wife says Smash was ok, but isn’t in any hurry to go back.
We’ve hit Burger Jones a few times and like their burgers and if you order the onion rings with just a little seasoning they’re pretty good, $40 for the two of us (one beer for me) makes it a bit steep for just a burger joint though.
Used to like the 58 club, but there burgers have been way overdone lately and the onion flower thing they serve had so much salt on it you couldn’t eat it, even the waitress said they over salt them…won’t be back
Haven’t tried 5 guys, maybe this weekend.

March 22, 2012 at 4:30 pm #1051488I remember my first trip and ordering 2 sides of fries. The cashier asked how many people were eating the fries? I said 2. He said one will be plenty and he was right.
We like the fries. Sure, they are not processed and mashed like fast food chains, but we like them natural.
Culvers vs. 5 Guys I will call even. I guess it depends on my mood. If I want lots of cheese and a hodge podge of toppings I’ll go 5 Guys.
5 Guys is also much more convenient for me.
March 22, 2012 at 5:06 pm #1051508No. I like that we can all share info. I’m pretty picky too so many may like the one in Woodbury. Heck, they may be better now since they are newer and trying to impress.
Agree with Pug. Burger was on par with Culvers. They served waaaay to many fries. Wastefull.PS- Maybe we can start an 8 page fight over nothing? That hasnt happened in at least a week.

DTMarch 22, 2012 at 7:17 pm #1051561Man! How could I forget about the sliders! White castle is always great but wouldn’t considers those things burgers….Gut bombs is more like it, but SO good
March 22, 2012 at 7:30 pm #1051568i’d way prefer to eat at 5 guys then some of the other burger joints. and i really like there seasoned fries!!!
March 22, 2012 at 7:38 pm #1051572Who can put a price on Hardees monster burger and curly fries? Not sure if I have had a burger I havent liked. Hard to mess up.
March 22, 2012 at 8:07 pm #1051580I have eaten 5 guys twice and thorougly enjoyed it both times. The only thing stopping me from going more often is the distance they are from my home here in Red Wing. With that being said, there is no way I will drive the 45 miles for the food alone. Now Red Robin is another story……. I’d run 45 miles to get there!

We need a culvers and white castle in woodbury
March 22, 2012 at 9:50 pm #1051595Since Tunicci’s left, I have been struggling to find a nice burger place. I am going to give Wild Bills a shot next week though.
March 22, 2012 at 10:39 pm #1050640I have been to the 5 Guys in Oakdale (yes it is in Oakdale not Lake Elmo or Woodbury). I prefer 5 Guys over Smashburger. In the late 1990’s Culver’s was trying to build in Woodbury somewhere around Radio Drive and Valley Creek Road I believe. They were not able to get approval from the City Council due to the drive through proximity to housing and the smoke/aroma from cooking again due to proximity to housing.
smoke grubPosts: 251March 22, 2012 at 11:44 pm #1051621I had five guys in Delevan and it was extremely good. its too bad that In and Out Burger doesn’t have the initative that Five Guys has because we need better choices in Wisconsin and especially the mid sized cities like Eau Claire and LaCrosse for variety. right now competition, is sparce.
