I’ve had a pair of Costa Del Mar suglasses with 400G lense for quite a few years. Honestly, I have been extremely happy with them and other than them being a little heavy, they are fantastic (I also have some Smiths–very nice, too, but optical quality on the Costas is plain better). I’ve been considering some 580Gs for a while, but the cost has scared me away. Well, I got a killer deal on some last week. I got them Friday, wore them all weekend, and all I can say is WOW! These things are just plain redonkulous. My 400Gs are still nice, and I will still use them, but the 580Gs are just plain unreal! And they are so light. One very happy dude, here

MSRP is steep, but if you can find a good deal on them, go for it! I got my pair for $100

Boy did I just luck out. Between you guys and Crossin Eyes I wanted a pair so bad I tried to buy them in gander. Problem is I didnt know N from G and almost bought the wrong ones. But thanks to ganders complete incompetence I was saved. They couldnt find the box/case and wouldnt sell them to me. Close call. The poor service there is getting worse.

You can typically find the 580G on e-bay for around $130 bucks. $100 is a great deal. I have 2 pairs and if I saw a pair at $100, I would own three.

Costa make the 380 lense with two different materials: one is glass and the other is plastic hense the 380G, 380Glass or 380P, 380Plastic. The price difference between the glass and plastic can be up too 80.00 more for the glass lense.

The letters that Mike posted were just a mistake, I think.

What Ron said, although he meant 580 instead of 380

My wife does have a pair of CDM Swordfish with plastic lenses, and they are nice, but not as nice as glass.

I picked up a pair of costas 2 years ago, and i went with the 400 glass lenses. I took those and a pair of 580s outside with a salesman, on a sunny day, and went down to a pond next to the building. I could not tell any difference between the two, so i couldnt justify spending the extra money on the 580s.
