Wonder if I could grow a couple hundred acres of pot for religious reasons?

I don’t think it’s the eagles that need killing.

Must be spring. The natives are restless and sabre rattling. Or should I say bow drawing?

I swear its like Native Americans just try to “push buttons” trying to see how much they can urine off US citizens…

I remember flying back from a fly-in fishing trip in Canada and our plane landed at the Baudette airport to clear customs. I had put an eagle feather in my bag to take home. Just thought it was neat. 4 HOURS later we were boarding the plane for our trip home…without the feather! I (a regular US citizen…) couldn’t keep a feather…They (Native Americans…) can take the whole bird! When is this sh*t going to end…?

I don’t really think it is a big deal. Eagles are not on the endangered species list, they have a decent population, and can be harvested safely then go for it, just let us all take a couple.

Special rights for some is just a bad deal all around.

Have to admit, I’ve hit them three times, twice for a all you can eat prime rib and once when the wife and her sisters wanted to go, I figure they took me for about $18 including the meals.

Haven’t been in years though, between their politics and the no guns allowed signs, be a cold day when we hit them again.

Al…who strayed off the path but is back on it now…:)

    “Redskins” huh??
You guys might not agree with this eagle issue, spearing of fish, or netting of “your” Mille Lacs walleyes, but I sure as hell wouldn’t expect stupid racist terms to be tolerated here on IDO just as heated political arguments don’t get too far either. If you have a problem with the issues at hand there are much better and more adult-like ways to vent your frustrations. Not a knock on you Brett by any means but as a staff member I wouldn’t have expected that from you. I’m not chiming in here to debate the issue wether its right, wrong, a violation of your “rights”, native “rights”, or whatever other issues are at hand…Just don’t enjoy viewing reactionary posts flaming the fire of ignorance.

I have never dropped a dime in one of those casinos and I pick up eagle feathers all the time since they like to roost in one of my trees. Shooting our national symbol is grotesque. So many people want to split this country up. All we can do is keep resisting.

Just an FYI, it is not legal for a non-Native American to possess an eagle feather. I believe it is a federal offense with up to a $25,000 fine.

Jeebers, never mind. I got it. I was reading that wrong. I think I skipped over the word “that” every time or should there technically be a comma after “Native Americans”?

I don’t go to casinos either, but, I don’t think that has anything to do with this topic. Sportsman going to casinos is not what gives native americans the right to kill eagles. Our government gives them the right. Steve Fellegy has said it several times, the fight is NOT with native american tribes, its with the government.

Jeremy, there will always be words that offend someone and the way that was used was to make a point. I am offended by the term native american. Look up native in the dictionary. Once the school systems started using the term instead of indian I started checking that box on all their forms. Every year I would get a call about some special program I was entitled to and I would explain to the do-gooder on the other end of the line that my children were born in this country so they were “native american”. Just my little shot at the system I guess. It seems many people can not see the forest for the trees. There is a select group in this country that has special privileges and our government condones it. I can promise you if it was the caucasions with special privileges they would have been abolished long ago.

This just another thumb in the eye by our native Americans. I didn’t kill any Indians, I didn’t give them any blankets infested with pox. I didn’t steal any of their land. I was not at he site where some fist fights broke out when WI. Allowed them to steal thousands of walleyes and continues to this day. They may have eaten some fish but some are sold. Their spearing of musky is the same as killing eagles neither are good to eat and or serve as the basis of a religion which worships everything in our world, sun, moon, earth and a free living for ” their” eagles. There are many eagles in re-hab and museums that are their available so there is no need to kill an adult breeding bird. Oops they don’t care about the future of any animal species. I will have to find something that the U.S. harmed the Norweigans. I want the Mn symble of Vikings removed from their football team. I am just kidding! Where is the Audebon Society on this one?

Mike, one of my rules in life is to never start a statement with, “I am sorry but”. Never apologize in advance for something you believe in.

Yea I know and I dont care. I would rather honor the symbol than let it rot. Kinda the opposite of killing them for ceremony.

Sorry, didn’t mean it to be racist, even if I don’t understand why they think they are above the laws that I have to abide by. It is a bunch of crap! Also getting sick myself of what some think is political correctness or not. I believe I am getting to be one pissed off American. And I’m not sorry for that, I wish more people would get pissed off. I also believe a lot of these so called tribal traditions are done just to cause an uproar now and then.
