I have had 2 . A 1998 buick when I sold it she had 225,000 miles and my buddy put another 40,000, and a 2000 impala that my daughter currently has with app. 140,000 and still going strong. In both cases transmission would slip a little ,but never have actually had to change one out. As long as transmission seems strong, 105,000 is just breaking that engine in IMHO.
just turned over 280000 in the work car which is a buick 3.8 running 90 miles a day to work think we have changed a water pump and alternator and the battery. If the price is right buy it it wont let you down.
I’m on my second… first was a buick and sold her with 200+k and now own a Super Charged 3800 in a 04 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 75k.. I need to put valve cover gaskets in this one, and the last one was flawless !!!
The best car engine ever taken out of production by a major US manufacturer..IMHO. I just sold mine because I needed more cargo space and miss it already. The major common issues have been mentioned…head gaskets that may cause an oil leak and water pumps. The maintenance costs will be quickly regained in gas mileage (hwy should be hi 20’s low 30’s) and the get and go they have. Should be a 250-300K engine if maintained properly.
