In mn, behind a truck can you pull a 30ft toy hauler with a 19ft duck boat behind that? The toy hauler does not have a fifth wheel hitch. The lengths (30&19) are the total length. I tried reading the statutes, but they get a little hard to follow. Thanks

Subd. 3c.Recreational vehicle combination. Notwithstanding subdivision 3, a recreational vehicle combination may be operated without a permit if:
(1) the combination does not consist of more than three vehicles, and the towing rating of the full-size pickup truck or recreational truck-tractor is equal to or greater than the total weight of all vehicles being towed;(2) the combination does not exceed 70 feet in length;
(3) the operator of the combination is at least 18 years of age;
(4) the trailer is only carrying watercraft, motorcycles, motorized bicycles, off-highway motorcycles, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, motorized golf carts, or equestrian equipment or supplies, and meets all requirements of law;
(5) the vehicles in the combination are connected to the full-size pickup truck or recreational truck-tractor and each other in conformity with section 169.82; and
(6) the combination is not operated within the seven-county metropolitan area, as defined in section 473.121, subdivision 2, during the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.
March 9, 2012 at 12:10 am #1047559According to my math you are to long. I know my Chevy is 20′ long. A 19′ boat will be 23′ on trailer. And a 30′ toy hauler will put you at 73′.
For what it’s worth I may or may not know some guys who triple tow longer than 70′.
March 9, 2012 at 12:12 am #1047562Total length of the 28 ft toy hauler is 30 ft and the 14ft boat is 19 overall. Sorry not very clear in my post…
March 9, 2012 at 12:14 am #1047564Max lenght in MN is 75′(70′ for 3-unit RV combinations
Truck + 5th wheel up to 28′
+ one additional trailer
transporting a boat, ATV, motorcycle,
snowmobile, or equestrian equipment
and supplies)From everything I have ever heard or seen, the middle trailer MUST be a fifth wheel design, so no.

Assuming your truck is 20′ then that puts you at 69′.
And Big G is right. I misread your post. It must be a 5th wheel.
March 9, 2012 at 12:29 am #1047567Or you can register in Nebraska and have a CC dually Super Duty and pull a 38′ triple axle travel trailer with a 19′ Pro V behind it. Setup was long as hell and he got about 4 miles to the gallon.
March 9, 2012 at 12:33 am #1047569Thanks guys, I confident you guys are right. I’ve been trying to find in the statutes where it says that. My brother in law is a deputy sheriff and want to see it too. It’s his trailer combo(yes I know he should know the rules)
March 9, 2012 at 11:31 am #1047626with that length “how difficult” is cornering going to be? or reverse if you have toooo?
March 9, 2012 at 11:37 am #1047631Cornering is not bad, one will follow the other, just aim a litle high. Now backing up … that would be a treat to watch that dude at the ramp… how many commandments would he break
March 9, 2012 at 12:29 pm #1047654Does anybody know the reasoning behind the middle trailer needs to be a 5th wheel?
March 9, 2012 at 1:18 pm #1047683Thanks guys. Case closed in my mind. IDO comes thru again.
Jeff and Corrine…buy another truck I guess.
