Is this fish for real? Anybody know anything?

    I got a text from a buddy saying that this fish was caught on the Mississippi near pritchereds and that it was supposedly 50 pounds. I know that the Minnesota state record is 45 pounds and the world record is 55 pounds, so of course I’m skeptical. Anybody heard anything about this?

    I have no idea about that validity of anything. But either way that is a monster pike.

    It was 42lbs from the e-mail I received this morning. It was weighed on a scale at a near by resort.

    At that growth rate it will be 70lbs by tomorrow.

    That is one big pike!

    That thing is approaching 30lbs.. not over BIG FISH

    Looks like a VERY nice pike but I would estimate it more in the 25-30lb range. You can see he’s holding it out, and simply based off the number of 20-30lb fish I’ve seen I really can’t see it being too much more than 30lbs. Also if you compare the size of his gloves and do an informal length measurement it doesn’t seem long enough to be a fish in the 40lb glass. Could be wrong though.

    The new (pending) world record is 63lbs… This is a whale of a Pike…I’d be curious to see that girl on a accurate scale.

    His brother works in my lab and it was supposedly a 22 lb fish caught in the Mississippi. I love how something circles on the internet and its all of a sudden a 50lb fish!

    Yep, 22lbs out of the backwaters. I grew up next to the guy.

    Yeah I was going to say it looks similar to my dad’s 21.5lb pike he got 2 winters ago.

    I am familiar with this fish. This fish was 22lbs and was caught on the Mississippi River. You can see the smoke stacks from the dam in the background in the middle. Some people will be able to tell where he was.

    I know….But it’s not in the 7 county Metro area…..Very close though I think….

    Those are the Dairyland smoke stacks in the background…think Alma. It is not a big secret in this area that “P’s” has been hotter than a pistol for snot rockets this year. Many, many BIG fish caught this year.

    I heard this morning it has grown to 54.4lbs. Like I said….it will be hitting 70lbs by the weekend
