carpet cleaner for cars works great but can be kinda spendy…otherwise I’ve also used dawn dish soap and given it a quick scrub with success. I would imagine power washing it would work.
March 2, 2012 at 2:32 am #1045219I spot spray a bit of Jungle Jake, scrub it in with a stiff brush and then hit it with the pressure washer. Maybe use a little care and not get the nozzle too close to the carpet. I’ve thoughts that enough pressure could break the glue under the carpet loose. – jerr

Just some car carpet cleaner that foams up works great. Scrub with a brush then scrub with a towel to lift stains, then do a good vacuum job to suck up any moisture.March 2, 2012 at 2:44 am #1045224I use dish soap mixed liberally in a bucket, and scrub brush, then hose out. Takes a lot of water to to rinse though, so do it when you can then get the boat really dry. I usually wait to the first sunny summer day, park on hill in the back yard, and leave it all open to dry in the sun, and drain as it needs to. Usually helps to suck it out with a wet dry vac, and then leave dry rest of the way. I own a power washer, but never use it on the boat…. brush and soap works, and nothing gets screwed up.

March 2, 2012 at 4:55 pm #1045414Go to the Stanley steamers web page. It may cost a little more but its worth the look. If they can get out all the stains and dirt the money is well spent.

Bushra KhanPosts: 2December 1, 2014 at 4:26 am #1478348If you use a boat regularly, some sort of dust will eventually get settled on it. The best way to keep your boat’s carpet clean and looking good is to clean it thoroughly two or three times per year. Carpet cleaning of a boat through vaucuming ensures long life of your boat’s carpet

One of the key things that most people will look at is the cost of the service, and this is an important consideration. However, there are also other factors that you need to take into account in order to make the right choice.
March 31, 2015 at 9:11 am #1529163Carpet, in large part, is fabric. Mostly man made. Nylon, Polyester, etc. But it acts the same as clothing. For tough stains or grease, Dawn dishwashing liquid, or Shout spray work great. Every spring I use Tide powder laundry soap on my boat carpet. Wet it good first, treat the stains, and lightly sprinkle some Tide and use a power washer spray jet on the hose. You don’t need a lot of soap. That stuff makes suds like you wouldn’t believe! You’ll be rinsing forever if you use too much.
I use a big fan to dry my carpet to avoid pro-longed dampness and/or mold.March 31, 2015 at 9:31 am #1529179Jungle Jakes or Simple gree has worked great for me. I’ve also used the carpet cleaning solution available at Sams Club, just follow the “pre-treatment” mix on the side of the label and spray it on.
Spray it on, wait .5 hr, pressure wash the carpet using one of the light pressure tips. If there are bad spots, treat again and scrub gently.
Mold isn’t caused by cleaning, mold is caused by mold spores that are kept wet and warm so they start to multiply. Anytime a boat gets wet, it’s essential to get it completely dry again and do something that kills the mold spores. Mold spores are present in the air at all times. Just using your boat exposes it to mold, it’s nothing to do with cleaing it.
I’ve always timed boat carpet cleanings when I know there are going to be at least 2 sunny days. I uncover the boat and keep in the sun the whole day both days with a carpet drying fan blowing. I always spray the underside of the covers with mold preventer, and the carpets with Lysol Clean/Fresh. Never had the slightest mold problem.

March 31, 2015 at 9:47 am #1529185Years ago I bought a fertilizer hose end sprayer, that i attach to the hose.
I put Laundry soap in it and spray down my carpet, let is soak in, then rinse off the carpet.
Sometimes I put Oxi Clean in with the soap , which helps with stains.April 1, 2015 at 8:36 am #1529629I did not know that using a pressure washer on my boat carpet would cause mold. I always thought it was the rain and humidity that caused it. I will have to test that theory again this spring. Dawn or laundry detergent on the stains and pressure wash open all compartments and let dry. It is a boat, they get wet from time to time, mold happens. If you don’t have some mold somewhere in your boat, you don’t use it enough
