Yamaha 4 Stroke revisited

Guys need advise again. Asked earlier about a Yam 50 hp tiller and got some great feed back. Found another boat/motor that fits my needs better. It is a steering console with a 2003 Yamaha 75hp. I would assume the same info/feedback would fit this engine. The question I have is this engine a carb or EFI model. Any other comments would be great.

    Thanks again

I get nervous when I see 75 hp motors on wheel boats. Make sure to check the coast guard plate for the max hp rating. Seems they under power wheel boats more then tillers. Other then that it will be a good motor.

An 03′ F75 should be a carbed engine. I think EFI came out in 05′ for that engine.

Forester, you sure you have an 03′ F90 EFI? Pretty sure those did not come out until 05′ and there are no available EFI parts available for 03-04′ F90’s.

My 2001 F115 was fuel injected, do not think the F90 and F75 were. Also, the F75 and F90 were smaller blocks than the F115 from what I remember.

I could be wrong with this but I think when they switched to the F75 from the 80 they made the F75 fuel injected.

Either way it will be a great engine.

The F75 was carbed until 05′, but your right….good engine either way and I would not hesitate owning one. Although, I would prefer EFI if I had the option. I just bought a 06′ carbed Yami 25 on Tuesday, and loved the 02′ F115 that was on my last boat.

My 2006 Yami was EFI. I could run a month on a full tank. Best motor I ever owned. Excellent for backtrolling. There is a switch on the handle that would allow me to get down to about 400 RPM’s without skipping a beat. Make sure to add a water/fuel separator on the gas line.

An ’03 f75 is a carb. motor. I cant say I have had any major issues with them, but as with any carb motor you have to keep fuel issues in mind. Run ring free and fuel stabilizer with the gas and it should keep the varinishing down on it.
If it runs good and idles fine I wouldnt hesitate to purchase!
