Nitto Terra grapplers went with a 10 ply. Under a 1000.00 should get 70000 miles.aggressive but very quiet.

March 1, 2012 at 10:54 pm #1045154I also have the Cooper’s on my F150 from FF. Got the special FF had on them and they’ve been a great tire. Excellent traction and seem to last with proper tire rotation.
March 1, 2012 at 11:03 pm #1045156I guess my question would be, who makes the best American made tires for an F-150?
March 1, 2012 at 11:33 pm #1045165You have a nice truck why put cheap tires on it? Michelin AT or LTX. I have the AT-2 and they will last 90,000 miles with rotation. My dad had the LTX and at 80,000 miles he had 30% left. Get what you pay for

Thanks G . Now I know I won’t buy Hankoops
Glad I saved you More for my friends then
March 1, 2012 at 11:43 pm #1045171My point being , why not spend another 40-50 bucks to support American jobs. It’s not a matter on a thousand dollar purchase, and why not go AMERICAN??
March 1, 2012 at 11:50 pm #1045173I am all for buying American (I did) but he asked generally, with tire prices climbing, what would you recommend ? I know on trucks, the Hankooks are just as good, maybe even better on some vehicles and are alot more cost effective. FWIW, I have yet to see ANY tire go 90K on any truck… we sell alot of Michelins too
March 1, 2012 at 11:59 pm #1045179True dat and after 50-60K on tires in this climate we all look at a change in tires. So we might as well buy AMERICAN

I did not belive him eather till gave his tires a real good look, even the guy at Tires Plus said he has seen the LTX tires go that long, they are at the top of the price range but $ per mile they pan out nice.March 2, 2012 at 1:04 am #1045196Quote:
Cooper Discoverer
Keep an eye open for Mills FF to run a sale.
Buy 3 get the 4th free.Hard to beat.
Another vote for Cooper
I put the Cooper Discoverer ATR on my Chevy Silverado in 2008 I have 16700 miles on them so far and still in great shape. Like others have said wait for the Fleet Farm sale where Buy 3 & get the 4th one free.March 2, 2012 at 1:28 am #1045201Got a set of dulers on my wifes truck and are pleased with them. I’m a fan of mickey thompson MTZ’s that is what will be going on my truck this year. Never tried them before but My buddies that are big into mudding and trucks say they’re one of the best. I’ve also heard good reviews about the nittos and hancooks too.
John SchultzInactivePortage, WIPosts: 3309March 2, 2012 at 1:43 am #1045207I got 64k on my first set of Hankooks on my F-150. I could have run them a bit longer, but it was November and I expected I would need to drive in the snow.
I put another set of Hankooks on it. Also have them on the wife’s Mini Cooper. A little different size though.

BFGoodrich AT. A friend of mine has a ’06 F150 and no lie, he has 78,000 miles on his. Yes he needs new ones, but still, i have yet to see a truck tire go that many miles. He has 20″ wheels. Needless to say i just put a set on my GMC. I put 285/75/16’s on and it was just under $1100.
All I’ve ever run on my trucks since 1998 is BFGoodrich All-Terrains. I’ve never seen less than 75,000 miles out of a set and I’m now on my 4th set on 2 different trucks. My last 2 sets were 100,000 miles on a 1999 GMC Sierra Ext Cab 4×4. Just a bit of sticker shock when I put my new tires on 3-4 months ago though… yikes!Through the course of nearly 300,000 some miles, I’ve had 2 flats. 1 was a nail I ran over which went flat in the driveway. The other was me screwing around on Upper Red Lake in the winter and knocking the bead off the rim. Tires Plus just checked it and filled it back up and it was fine.

Ill second that, long trail TA 60,000’s, best tire I have ever had on a vehicle.
