I was a longtime member of this site and guided on mille lacs for 14 years. 3 years ago I left minnesota to train as a chef in New Orleans. It was the best experience I ever had. But Louisiana is a nice place to visit but not a place to want to live. I got very homesick being away from minnesota. I struggled with alcohol addiction with lead to pill abuse. I burned some bridges with few guys and will make amends to them all no matter what it takes. Ive been sober for 18 months and couldnt feel better. This site is my favorite site and its the best site for info. I dont guide anymore but Iam a hardcore ice angler. If any of you guys have any questions or need help just ask. This really feels good to be back to IDO.

Its a nice unit. The colors are vivid too. I like to put the screen speed on high and motor around looking for schools of fish.

    hi Derek,
This is the MOST surprized I’ve been on here in a very long time.
I’ve been worried about you also for a very long time.
Am sure it has been a very long road to where you are now and Congratulations for making a BIG turnaround.

I remember a few very memoriable evenings up on Mille Lacs during October and November, those were some special times.

    Welcome Home,
    Jack Naylor

I went twice. First trip was a bust. Second trip two weeks ago was very good. We fished a gravel hump a mile north of spirit Island and about 2 miles east of rocky reef. We fished the top of the reef in 22 feet and just waited for them to move up top as the sun was going down. Then at 4:45 it was game on. We had double and triple fish. 1/8 oz gold kastmaster. We kept 6 and threw back 11 that were too small or too big.
