pool 4 should be closed from redwing up to the dam the same time inland waters are save some of them spawing walleyes

Why? What would we do with our boats then in the spring?

    Yes I agree.

Even though the DNR nettings show the fishery has been handling the pressure since before you were born.

If the in-land guys can’t fish, neither should those dang river guys. AND they should only be allowed 1 line.

Just think of how many 6 fish limits are caught in that time frame using more than one line!

No…. there should be a slot size other than keeping walleyes over 15″

It doesn’t matter if a walleye is harvested in June or March, they still can’t reproduce the next spring. Closed seasons don’t make a difference, but slot limits on the other hand…

I think that you should only be able to use ring worms for cat fish all year round

Good point RRR. If the DNR noticed a problem it would have been closed a long time ago.

With the creel survey’s and the netting, the data shows she’s in fine shape.

PS what’s the deal with bass guys and ringworms anyway?

Limit fishing to only the port side of the boat. That would cut the fishing pressure in half.

No hear to a closed season. Its a good place to keep those hungry fishermen so they stay off other pools of the river.

And if so why? I think that I should be able to shoot a paintball gun at people who are texting while driving, but it doesn’t seem to be gaining any ground in St.Paul.

Also, this has been argued by the ignorant for longer than there has been forums for people to troll on. The river is in great shape.

I have heard that you can get ringworm from bass

And you should only be able to fish with sharpened coat hangers and yarn.

Also, sonar should be illegal because I heard it gives fish headaches.

If people are going to be fishing for walleyes, they should do it the way their ancestors did it. Birch bark canoes, hemp nets, and paddles.

These modern conveniences are getting ridiculous.

As a side bar, how can I get my wife to agree to letting me get a new Terrova trolling motor with the I pilot? She seems to think it is extravagant.

As they said in the movie Platoon, opinions are like A holes everyone has one. I have fished below the dam at Redwing for over 30 years and the fishing has not suffered from the winter fishing at all. If the resource was suffering the DNR would address it. Nice job on starting a post that will fire up those of us that enjoy and support the resource.

Inland waters would be in better shape if we did not have spearing and netting.

Would be 100% behind a C&R period thru the winter months. At the very least there should be a reduced bag limit in the winter and also a slot imposed in the winter months. There is very little question in my mind that the Saugers have been hurt by all the pressure. Which pressure will be fixed by a slot any of the three mentioned above.
