Have you ever experienced the wondrous pain of having the ends of your fingers split out at the fingernail edges ? A tiny drop of super glue covers the wound so it can heal and stops the nagging pain ! And here’s another tip–don’t pick your nose within two minutes of applying super glue to a nose mining finger!! 
Superglue (cyanocrylate) was initialy developed by the military
as a battle field suture.
Just sniffing a freshly glued finger could
trap a wad of nose hairs,
in some guys. 
3M makes a product called 3M Nexcare Skin Crack Care. They just launched the product this year and I found that it really works good. I’ve had really good luck by applying this product at the first sign of a crack developing rather than waiting for the crack to get bigger. I’m not sure what stores carry it but I bought mine at Cub Foods.
