Anyone get drawn for the spring turkey hunt? I was on a year dry spell but got selected this year! Lots of rumors the turkey numbers are down. I took a trip the other evening down to my turkey spot and wow! Most turkeys I have ever seen at my spot since I have been hunting it!

I estimated around 60-70 turkeys. Couldn’t fit them all in the picture. All small, but I know the big toms are out there hiding!

I hunt the first season (A), how about you?

Never hunted the first season, anyone got some tips for early season toms?

We do the best in the early season by calling in the hens. If you can call in a hot hen, Toms will follow!

My daughter is bowhunting the second season & I’m almost booked for guiding the entire spring. I think its C or D that I have left open

I am excited to do first season. I am hoping the weather might hinder some people. I remember going two years ago during C season and it was wet and cold. Didn’t see many people out.

hopefully season A will be misquito free, and cold and wet to keep those yuppies at home

Two years ago I called in two little rug rats. They almost took a blast at my decoy when I finally said HEY. Boy did they go a running off the field! Wish I would have caught the two little kids that were tresspassing!

My 10 year old son and I put in for tags in WI.I put myself in for 1st week only and my son Hunter in for 7 diffferent seasons.Being that we are from Saskatchewan we do not have wild turkeys in the province and you have to be 12 years old before you can buy a hunting license for anything. I am really excited that my son drew a 3rd season tag,we intend to hunt the 2 days of the youth weekend at Easter because of the school break up here in Saskatchewan. We are going to be hunting in Zone 3 around the Wautoma area. Also looking forward to some fishing when there because our lakes will still be frozen.
Good Luck with your first season tag.

    Haha! Nope not from EP.

Im quiet a ways south of EP! I see crop fields and silos, not cougars and beamers

You guys should come join us over on the hunting side. We don’t allow yuppies, but cougars are often discussed.

Willy D, a tip for your youth hunter, when the extra tags go up for sale buy your son a late season tag ($10) and if you are successful on the youth hunt use this tag, otherwise you will have to use his 3rd season tag and he will be done, just something I learned thru my youth hunters. good luck

I hunted turkey many years down south were they’ve been hunted for hundreds of years and I can tell first hand Minnesota turkeys are the dumbest bird on earth. You’ld never see a gang with than 15-20. I never in all my time saw a road killed turkey, now I see 20-30 a year up here. A year ago I saw a couple of toms struttin for some hen in a wide open field 50 yards of the road and people were stopping and taking pictures, Thats not normal.Say what you want, But what you’ve got is a 20lb dumb a– chicken. With your 3 1/2″ loads, blinds, decoys and a target that isn’t very smart, If you can’t get one, Well, Whats that say? Now the reason I post a message like this is I get tired of listening to the great white hunters bragging about bagging this wary creature of the woods. I have my memories of real turkey hunting. But thats another story.

    real turkey hunting.

Everyone takes a different opinion or experience from their hunt. I’ve hunted birds that never were pressured, and yes they tend to be more curious. Hunt a ridge that has a dozen hunters on it the same week as you, and half of them spook birds year after year…then see how easy they are to call in. When I did a Florida hunt, I was blown away how curious they were to watch us walk across a field, then followed us…. To each their own I guess
