Edit:*How far to drive to find open water? *

I miss the boat, and I miss open water crappie fishing. How far south would I have to go to get some decent open water crappie action in the next month?

Ps, don’t say P4, not an option.

No place to launch a boat on p4, until baypoint, or coleville open…………. Lake Fork is in Texas right? A little further than I was looking for table rock sounds about right, gotta see if ill have the time to actually do this soon, meanwhile at least I got some ideas, thanks!

P3 is a good option I forgot about it sometimes just think it’s mostly iced in (on a normal winter in don’t think the access is always that good.

Crappies biting agressivly in the cold water of pool 4?

Truman produced the last time I was there 15 to 17 inchers common, 18’s well there were a few of them. I started out keeping nothing less than 10.5’s and quickly upped that to long 11 inchers. Heck of a mess, that year we were there 2 weeks before Mothers day. It was a late spring.

By that time we are well into our open water season on the river…think Nick is thinking *now*.
