They call it a Dodge, because by buying one you “dodged” the expense and embarrassment of owning a Ford or Chevy.

The auto manufacturers cater to what the general public wants.Like 4 doors, and all the bells/whistles.

For the most part, the manual transmission is history, only Dodge offers a 6-speed in 3/4 ton models and heavier.I like simple and no-nonsense myself. The last 2 I owned were “WT”models.Trying to find a manual was almost impossible, unless I went with a 6-cylinder

So who killed the manual transmission;the EPA or the general public?

I don’t know why the EPA would. Manuals get better mileage than autos. I think it’s all demand. Not enough people want them. It makes me cringe when I see a ‘Vette or a Camaro with an auto in it

I still have a soft spot for the late 70′ mid 80’s chevy trucks and will own one someday for joy riding.

As far as guys in suits driving trucks…There are plenty of guys that wear suits to work that hunt and fish more then the guy wearing carhartts to work. I will agree though that people are buying trucks just as a tar baby. If I didnt tow anything I would still drive a truck.

No different then all these woman driving yukons and suburbans to tow around the kids. I know when the time comes I wouldnt stick my wife and kids in a small car with all the crazy drivers out there.

BUT by people buying trucks and large suv’s and use them like a car has made the manufactures add more luxury to them and also it was driven the price up.

I agree with ya skeeter. To me the sharper lines of the older trucks have alot more personality. Something I never had thought about before that my enviromental science professor pointed out. These cars like the prius that are so much better because they use less gas? How much are the having to still mine to get all the materials they need to make the solar panels, the batteries and whatnot? They may be easier on gas, put they are just paying the price elswhere. lol. which is worse?
