Another Sad Dog Post

Our friend has a French Bulldog named Henri. He was a very sweet dog and we were pretty close, even though I didn’t see him that often. He was just a great dog who got along with other dogs and loved getting attention from me.

We he always had issues, mostly recently. He had seizures and at one point lost a lot of weight. They never really figured out what was wrong.

His mom is on vacation in the Dominican Republic this week and he is being watched by Michelle’s mom and Karen’s (his master) mom.

Well yesterday I guess he started having issues and this morning he had a bulge in his back and was paralyzed. They rushed him to the U and we all though it was a slipped disk and after some work he’d be ok.

Just got the word they found aggressive cancer in his spine and that’s it. They are putting him down before the morphine wears off so he doesn’t have to suffer.

Nice F$#^ start to the weekend.

Here’s to Henri who died too quick and too young. We’ll miss you buddy.

His mom called to thank me for calling yesterday. I am not good with those phone calls, I never know what to say. I can’t imagine leaving for vacation and your dog seems fine and then get a call that he had to be put down. She obviously sounded distraught.

Henri was such a good low energy dog. He never got over excited when our dogs would visit. He was very even keel and loved to sit on your lap.

That’s my boy Tuffy. He’s already had a life time of health issues, but he’s been good the last 5 years or so, knock on wood. Henri was his buddy. Both had similar personalities, temperament and energy levels. Henri was a little more affectionate.

The heir apparent to the Henri throne. No way he will replace Henri, but it will give Henri’s sister Hazel some stability.

He’s quite the goofball. Just came back from his house. The tables are now turned on his sister who used to be the instigator with Henri.

So far he seems to have a good temperament and is surprisingly confident. He’ll no doubt have Hazel submissive to him. Hopefully he doesn’t get too big of britches.

    Good looking pup Mike!
Sadly we lost my wife’s dog snowball last night she was diagnosed with mammary cancer about a month ago. At 11 years old we did not want to put her through the trauma of a surgery so the vet put her on pain meds to keep her comfortable. Last night Wendy let her out for a poddy break and when she went to call her back in she was lying on the grass next to the hose, she had not been there long so we know she did not suffer. We lost my German short hair Abby last May so it has been a tuff year at our house. Ironically my daughter Emily brought home another abandoned cat about two weeks ago so we now have two cats, they do not replace the dogs but they are a comfort to Wendy and Emily. I think we will be sticking with the two cats I don’t think I could take the loss of another dog. Here is one of my favorite pics of Emily with Snowball & Abby at one of my favorite places, Everts Resort.

They are good dogs. If I didn’t have 3 dogs here I might have taken one home yesterday too! In some ways I hate visiting a kennel because I want to bring them all home. Although there was one yesterday that is going to be a handful for someone. He was very aggressive and demanding.

The kennel also had a cool German Shephard / Mastiff mix. It was their pet, obviously and not a dog they bred. She was sweetheart.

Next Saturday the girls are going to a wedding, so I get to watch the whole pack! Our 3 and the friends 2 Frenchies.

He’s 8 weeks on the button too, so he is still a little clumsy and wobbly, which makes all puppies even cuter.

Yeah, it is not a good look for us “men”.
