Heading to Ca for a long weekend the middle of April. Wondering if anyone has done any fishing that time of the year. Not picky on species just need something to do one afternoon while the women are shopping.

    Thanks Steve

I was out there in June about 10 years ago. I fished on a party boat with about 40 other people. I guess it was worth the 50 bucks since we caught a bunch of fish and we got a nice boat ride around the harbor, but I wasn’t overly impressed. We mostly caught various species of sucker-ish bottom fish on a rented pool cue of a rod. I don’t know what type of fish they were but it wasn’t the tuna or mackeral that the first mate said we would be going to catch before i paid for it. If you go the party boat route, try to get to the docks early and catch the people from the morning trip as they get off the ship. Ask them how they did, and book a trip based on that.

We also caught a fair number of ducks, gulls, pelicans, and seals, which i guess is a pretty average day.

The FW and I went out of there. Sometime back. This trip might be more than what your looking for, but Capt Mongo can point you in the right direction for exactly what you want.

Although much less expensive, I don’t care for the group trips…but that’s me.

We caught so many fish, I had to put the FW on a diet.

You thinking Ocean deep sea fishing, or staying Inland for MONSTER LARGEMOUTH ?

That area from LA to SAn Diego have lakes that will probably produce the next world record LM, (save Japan)

By April you prob would have missed the best LM bite (Feb and March)
